One more and we'll have a full grid again!
To think there was a time when you actually had to qualify for a spot on the grid...

They aren't in yet until they come to an agreement with the FOM. I'm still rooting for them, but I just don't see it happening.

Yep. FOM doesn't want to split the pie 11 ways. 10 is plenty for them.
Wouldn't FOM want more teams? They want to grow the sport. Although it looks like they do have to get permission from the teams to do so.
I hate this gatekeeping. The teams shouldn't be allowed to decide who gets to race against them. Make it based on merit - if you're fast enough, you can race. Do any other race series have this sort of lock where the teams get a mega million dollar bribe and get to decide if someone else is let into the club?

I'm pretty sure the existing teams get a lot of leverage on things like NFL and MLB expansion.
IndyCar is owned by Penske, so I imagine he has a bunch of influence. :)
The major league sports are why I specified "race series" :) Every once in a while I forget that F1 is an entertainment business first and a sport second.
Max on pole, barring catastrophe he'll hoist his 3rd WC at the end of the sprint race. Was so far ahead they brought in the car after his final out lap, nobody was going to catch him. Appears to be an issue with track limits on Lando's final lap, he is second but he crossed the white line so they are waiting on race control to announce.
Lando's lap time is deleted, Russel promoted to P2
Well the track limits debacle raises it's ugly head again. They interviewed Max, George and Oscar for the top 3 positions, during the interview Naomi Schiff informed Oscar that his lap time was deleted for track limits. So, that promotes Hamilton to P3..
Weren't these "sprint" races supposed to be that .......a race? What was I watching another quali session?
Am i the only one that thinks holding a GP race in the desert of Qatar is a total joke? Heat. Sand blowing around. Most of the course has no spectator stands. I guess money talks.
And now the tires are unfit to do more than 20 laps...

This year they're doing two qualis on sprint weekends. Yesterday's was for the race and the one this morning was to set the grid for the sprint. So, yeah, you were watching a quali!
Oh oh oh and my other favorite circuit is the "serving" spoon on the west coast of the peninsula....NOT
Oscar is one cool cat.
I'm guessing Max comes past Lando on the clean side at the start, then DRS's past Oscar in pretty short order.
Berk track limits. I understand, but it makes for stupid.
Oscar is a legitimate F1 driver, held off Max to take pole today and win the Sprint. McLaren looks good in the sandbox

Yes.
No, no.
Still yes.
People moan about the sprint weekends but so far they've done as intended and shake things up.
Sprints every weekend is fine by me,as would defining track limits with the OUTSIDE tires for facks sake.
I know people get upset about track limits in F1, but in reality it is no different than cones in an autocross, or sidelines in Futball.

If Liberty wants Andretti in F1 they just need to share more of their piece of the pie. With the increase in the number of races don't you think they are making a lot of money. If they share more of it with FOM everyone can get more money.

Good idea, just like autox F1 should straight up dq a driver that goes all 4 wheels on the wrong side of the white line.
Yeah, he's gonna have to own that one. Just didn't leave George any room.
Good job Oscar to take full advantage. He's having a really good weekend.
