I just picked up on the "Ontario" part. I guess I missed that before.
Just thought of this - my neighbor has a 1st-year Goldwing that's been in his shed forever, IIRC $500 was his price, though it may have been less. He wrecked it years ago & bent the forks, kept it around with the intent of building some type of enclosed trike, but never got around to it.

The Merkur diff is small and easier to mount than a Miata diff - although if you go with a complete rear subframe etc from a Miata, that's not a problem other than the nose of the diff. Ping me if you're looking for a particular Miata ratio and I'll tell you where to look, but the smaller, lighter 1.6 rear only comes in a 4.30.

I could have sworn I posted this already, but other than Quaifes what other chain drive differentials are there out there? Can you make one from relatively cheap and available parts?
