given the shift from wing centric/flat floor downforce to underbody centric downforce, that would be an expected result.
Although, I will bet that an F1 car will be more efficient with the air than an indycar will be in pretty short order- since Indycar is a spec car, there's not much progress there on the aero package.
I don't think it will look like that. Whenever they show artists renderings of what the next-gen will look like, they are done a) with the spirit of the rules in mind and b) by an artist who, no matter how technically minded they are, will aim for something that looks good. While in practice the cars will be designed by people looking at a) the letter not spirit of the rules and b) what the CFD and windtunnel tells them, not what looks good.
Remember when we got the flying dildo Caterham? All the Artist renderings of the new rules pre season showed nice shaped noses, not the dildo and the anteater or dustbuster cars we got.
Ocon to Renault for 2020 to replace Hulkenburg.
Hulk to HAAS in 2020 to replace Grosjean.
Grosjean probably out unless Williams ends up needing somebody.

Williams needs somebody. Kubica is not the answer. I don't think Grosjean is their answer either though.

I am interested to see how Albon does at Spa.

They need Sabre Cook. Maybe she'll be done her internship at Renault F1 by then. A female-run team with a female driver with an engineering background goes a long way towards getting publicity even if you don't win races.
Maybe she could get into Max's head too. They dated when he was in diapers.

That sounds perfect although the name Sabre, just makes me think of Michael Scott.
Weekend looking tough for Mercedes- after the engine upgrade, two of them have failed rather spectacularly. And Perez is back to the previous spec. I suspect that Kubica will be forced to do the same, given that failure.
Qualifying was interesting.
F2 news is terrible. RIP Anthoine Hubert
Hubert's accident was a t-bone with him almost stationary. Didn't have much of a chance. RIP young man.
After a horrible Saturday for racing, that was a pretty darned good race for F1. Charles hanging on for his first race, and Albon clearly pointing out why he got promoted.
Albon passed Ricciardo, Kvyat and Gasley in short succession - all guys who have had his seat in the past :)
That ended up being a lot more exciting at the end than I expected.
Great to see Albon get 5th, but he should have finished 6th. Sad to see Norris not finish the race by one lap..... McLaren shows so much promise, but both cars out.
And this is the first time we hear Monaco's national anthem for a winner.
That was a great win. Really enjoyed the race. The end was a lot closer that I thaught it was going to be.
My daughter said, from the kitchen, "Whats wrong, Dad?" when I saw Lando's car parked. The midfield race was a lot of fun today, Lewis got way closer to the win than I thought he would, and Alex must be feeling pretty happy with life in general just now.
On the other hand, it must be a bit sucky for Seb to be playing second fiddle. It's only right, but still...
Yeah, watching Seb being a clear #2 in this race was interesting. Was that a reaction to what was going down, or the plan? If Lewis' pit stop had been a 2.6s instead of a 3.6s, we might have had a couple of laps of good dicing. Seb wouldn't have been able to build up as much of a cushion so LeClerc would have been under pressure earlier.
Just re-watched the start. There's a Racing Point that sees the Max-Kimi accident coming and takes decisive action to not be involved. You can see it from Ricciardo's camera. It's pretty heads up driving, although I'm not sure who it was. It's also impressive that Kimi 1) was steering into the "skid" and modulating the throttle when the car was at a 30* angle and 2) he got that car home.
That was both a really good and really bad day for Lando. Great work on his part and a result that was no fault of his own.

Yeah, I was amused to see him counter-steering while the front wheels had 2 feet of air underneath them. :)
Vettel was clearly #2 in this race when they told him to let LeClerc pass, I think that was just a reaction to the realities of the race as it unfolded. Delaying his 2nd stop in order to stay in front of Hamilton and slow him down didn't look like it was disadvantageous to Vettel -- it's not like he was going to catch Bottas by pitting a couple laps earlier.

Ferrari getting a strategy call right, Leclerc getting his first win, Lando doing a great drive and having it all go wrong with 1 lap to go, Albon getting up to 5th, Max being Max. Fun race to watch.

Horrific. I figure the car that hit him may have been at 170 mph. RIP.

I still haven't seen any footage of more than the cars sliding to a final stop. I guess it all doesn't matter how it happened. It reads like it was just a racing accident. A young man passed away regardless. Another young man is seriously injured. Not fun at all.

I saw some footage on YouTube right after the news broke. I suspect F1 management is working hard to keep down.
It was a pretty horrific hit. Story I read earlier indicated he was doing approx 150 when he hit him, and he is in the hospital with two broken legs and spinal damage.

I saw that one, and then saw another one that is farther down past the wreck that appears to be the world feed and you really see how badly smashed up the cars are.
Arm chair Fred here ......wasn't it clear to MaxdBrat that something was amiss in the 'steering' after the 'mishap'.....cuz the in car footage showed lack of feed back?
