Pretty bush-league move by Verstappen. He got off easy too! They should have sent him to the back of the grid.
EXACTLY. These guys are supposed to be the best in the world. While Verstappen may be fast and talented he is also immature and verStupid.
Now it will be fun to see if Verstappen tries to slipstream and pass Vettel going into turn 1. Fun to look forward to.
The beginning of this race just got a lot more interesting. Will Charles deny Seb the slipstream and allow Lewis to get a run? I can't wait
Somewhat concerning, but overall a boring race.... Albon made Ferrari blink, which took LeClerc off a decent strategy. And once Hamilton undercut Vettel, Ferrari tried hard to give Vettel the better car at the end. But seeing Bottas close on Vettel- that just didn't work out.
Interesting to see that there was some significant floor damage to Hamilton from Verstappen- and he still made it work.... Kinda tells you that these cars don't race each other well.
It was interesting, but not really from a wheel to wheel point of view, later in the race. Ten laps to go, I was still figuring four guys had a shot, due to variable strategy. I agreed with Lewis about pitting too soon, but as I watched Ricciardo go all those laps on his hards, I got more comfortable. Ended up being a brilliant choice.
And what about that Mexican podium? That's cool as all get-out.
And, it seems to me that Lewis and Seb are pretty good friends. There would be a pretty select group with similar experience.
I really like when they talk with their hands after the race, just like a pair of club racers.

That was straight out of the Speed Racer movie..The last scene where Speed wins the big race.. Only thing missing was the big kiss from Trixie on the podium.. Sweet
There were some big old boring parts of that race but taken altogether with practices, qualifying, race start and final laps with a surprise win-it was not bad at all. I could not believe Lewis won that one, it was a shocker. Max should be kicking himself for his bad choices on Saturday, which resulted in his race falling apart, but I bet he will never admit to any wrongdoing because he's shockingly immature at times. Lewis is now only 8 races away from Schumachers record and I shouldn't doubt his ability to exceed 91 race wins but with the strength of Ferrari lately, that will not be easy.
A good race. I was impressed that Hamilton pulled it off. Apparently so was Vettel, he said:
"If you're a woman on this planet and you have this guy giving you a massage like he's treating the tires, it's just pure magic!"

I found the race to be fun. The McLarens I thought would be right on Albon but ended up falling apart. Perez did a great job job getting to and holding 7th. Hamilton did a great job with strong aggression at the start then pushed hards to the finish.
I hoped for more battling in the top four but it wasn't to be.
I wasn't as impressed with Albon as he didn't really maintain any pressure on the top four. I think Verstappen would have been challenging for a podium.

Albon (and LeClerc) just showed that the 2 stop was the wrong choice yesterday- especially when you look how deep they ended up not going, which meant that they both put hard tires on at the end. And seeing how the hard tires didn't wear (noting Lewis' constant doubt about it), there was just nothing there for them.
The fact that new hard tires was not better than very used hard tires at the end was really surprising.
Then again, it was no assurance that the red tires would be fast enough to get close enough and not let the car overheat.

I suspect he will have Schumi's record before the end of next season. I'm also an unabashed LLlloooouuuuueeeeesssseeee fan. He's a bit annoying with his interests outside of F1, but within F1 he's consistently quick and conducts himself with a bit of class.

Someone needs to take Lewis aside and tell him that his fashion sense sucks.
This is nothing new for F1 champions. Villeneuve had a style that looked pretty goofy and of course Jackie Stewart is impossible to ignore.
The funniest thing this weekend was watching Lewis head for the grid. He's on a razor scooter and his poor trainer is running along beside carrying all of his stuff.

I wonder how much she gets paid? She is there all the time.
So another aero device that should be modified- brake ducts.
Make them all the same on all cars- fans can't even notice them. Make them too large to make sure the brakes are cool enough all the time. Seems like one of the most constant reasons someone had to back off from a chase was "brakes are getting too hot", and this is getting old.
I understand the rest of the car may get hot, but it's always the brakes first.
Large and equal will net the same drag for all cars, and it will make sure overheating brakes are not a choice for the engineers- so that they have the best qualifying trim.
Not sure if this is the correct location for this post or not. Heading to COTA next weekend for my first ever F1 race (and first COTA experience). Any tricks of the trade I should be aware of? We will be sitting in the main grandstands near the start line.

I like this idea.
Isn't having the brakes too cold just as much of an issue?

Calling her a trainer (don't mind the accidental and hilarious autocorrect in my first post) is underselling her pretty badly. She's one of his most valuable assets.

Use them harder. Right now, them getting too hot is bad for good, close, racing.

COTA is a pretty good track for a good, old walk and watch event. When I was there I just did general admission, the trick was after going through the gate to turn right. That takes you around the first hairpin and up the hill on the outside of the track. Best place to watch the start is near the grandstand at the top of the hill where you can see the pit straight as well. From there you can pretty much walk the rest of the outer perimeter of the track, actually have access to see roughly 3/4 of the track.
One thing, everything there from tickets to t-shirts (in 2016) was three to four times the cost of similar at Indy when F1 was there so take lots of cash!

That race was really shaping up to be very interesting and things sort of petered out at the end. It does make it more entertaining to watch when there are all the different strategies going on at once. Was really hoping that there would be some close battles in the closing laps.
My favorite part of the race was when Vettel basically shooed away that strange weird selfie obsessed dancing guy on the podium when he tried to join the lineup for the photo.

Yes Angela Cullen I read a short article about her last year. No need to feel sorry for her. Lewis shows her mad respect that she deserves. She probably gets paid well and definitely has helped Hamilton have a consistent support to get him ready for the race. He commented once that he rides a razor to get past autograph seekers but also to tune up his balancing abilities.
