All do not get me wrong I LOVE THIS VENUE.....the officiating SUCKS
They talked about this and showed exactly what was legal and what was not during qualifying.
When Davidson drove the track, they had a strict not going beyond the white lines... AT ALL. That was not part of formula 1.
Formula 1 stated clearly that going off track was when you no longer had any tires on the painted curbs. The white line is essentially meaningless.
Also, from the way it was being reported, this is actually MORE restriction than they had last year.
Furthermore, this WAS active in qualifying. Your lap gets deleted if you go the entire way off the curb in qualifying. In the race, you will have 3 warnings and then a penalty or a dq.
Track limits are discussed at every track and are track dependent.

A lot of the drivers are, too.
It's a bit exasperating that through FP3 and qualifying the big story is how slow Ferrari is. They got caught cheating and haven't found a way to get the horsepower back.
I hope you don't use Hulu for your streams.
Cloudflare has again brought down a huge chunk of the internet.
Having that Alfa wheel and suspension heading across the track would certainly be a code brown moment for George...
Is it just me, or have there been an unusual number of safety cars this year coming out at exactly the wrong time, causing tires to run longer than their ideal life?
We have seen a lot of wheels flying off cars this year, don't the tethers work any more? That's how people get killed
When Schumacher retired at the end of '06 the records he had set were so far beyond everyone else I thought they would stand forever. It's so wild to see Lewis knocking them down one by one.

No kidding. By the end of the season, he'll break all of them except for the tie of championships.
And it still amazes me how much Mercedes can still find in that car relative to all the other teams. You'd think they would be far down the benefit-effort curve- but they found some amazing speed this season.
As for Ferrari- it's a good thing there are no fans. Next week in Monza would be really tough to watch for the Tifosi, and the Alfisti, let alone the Haas fans.

What is so amazing about Mercedes is that two other teams are running the exact same engine/gearbox and are nowhere near the Mercs. You could stick a Honda in the Mercedes and it would still probably win races (if Lewis was driving). I think if these rules were stable for a few more years and they allowed teams with fewer points to test more than teams with higher points, we would see a convergence of performance

Haas fans LOL.
Ferrari should do better at Monza since everyone will be on low downforce and they are best at cheating at home.

And he's not done yet. If Merc has a good car for him in 22, he could continue for years to come.
But, no matter what his numbers, someone in the future will beat him too.
What a great freekin' race.!!!!!!....... the highest finishing Ferrari powered team was ......wait for it.....Sauber with but who else the 'ICEMAN' Kimi Raikkonen OHY!!!! I'm at peace now ......wink

Hey, now. I consider myself a Haas fan. Casual one, but given the potential that one of us *could* work for Haas- it does offer some appeal to want to win.
I'm a big Haas fan. Unfortunately, there is literally nothing to get excited about.
Ferrari won't be able to fix this issue. There are no power unit upgrades available as far as I understand it. Since the rules are basically frozen for next year, it's going to suck then too.
The Ferraris couldn't even pass cars when they had Drs. I'm expecting the Ferrari powered cars to finish in the last 8 places at Monza. That lets the Williams be intermingled in those 8 places for the 6 Ferrari powered cars.
I DO expect that Ferrari will have one he'll of a car for 2022. They can basically devote all their time to it now since the current dumpster fire is what they are stuck with and any upgrades aren't going to help move them to the front.
I thought the race was pretty boring by spa standards after the safetycar.
The f2 races were awesome, as usual.
I was happy to see today during the Indycar race they spotlighted Logan Sargeant winning in F3 and leading the championship. He was amazing in karts and now is leading the F3. I have ESPN+ so I have caught all of the races this year. Das is the other American driver, but is having a pretty tough year. Although I am excited for a American to be in the ladder system, let's be honest, other then Mick, the top 2 drivers in GP2 are not going to be in F1 in 2021, because of the musical chairs with retreads and retirees. It makes me feel bad for Logan, because he may have some support to move to GP2, but no major backing from the big teams. It seems like another American that may or may not make it to F1 with a lower tiered team only to comeback to the US to race in indycar. I love indycar, it's just a shame that Americans can't give F1 a honest go. Honestly the best racing going on is the feeder series.

TWO Haas fans! Wow. Sorry guys. Tough sledding, now and for however long the ol' crook keeps the team in F1.
I disagree about the Ferrari 2022 car. The organization is so clearly dysfunctional that it would take a miracle for them to do a better job than Mercedes and Red Bull will designing the new cars.

Haas fan #3 here! Although, I think I'm more excited about the idea of Haas than the team itself. I'm cheering for them for three reasons:
Unfortunately, they're really not worth mentioning right now. I'm not sure how much of the blame goes to Ferrari, how much goes to Grosjean and Magnussen, how much goes to Steiner, and how much goes to the financial side. And considering that they came out pretty strong for a brand-new team in the first couple years - 5th place in 2018!! - it's really sad and disappointing. While it would be amazing to see an American team fighting for podiums, at this point, I'd be ecstatic if they could fight for position with a team that doesn't rhyme with "Silliams".
dang computer- this would be a third attempt for a long reply about haas. But i'm not going to bother...
tldr:
Haas is the canary to Ferrari
Ferrari isn't going to find the power
Haas has a slight benefit going into the ground effects era thanks to Dallara.
Lets hope I don't delete this before hitting post.
Another Haas fan here.
Yeah, the last two years have sucked. Yeah, I really didnt like the whole sponsor drama last year (they should have seen the writing before they signed a deal).
I can understand what they are trying to do with drivers, but it is getting to be time to shake it up a bit. They are trying to do vetran drivers to help develop the car better. I feel like Grosjean has flashes of speed, but also flashes of WTF? Magnussen is very vanilla, he does ok, but not super. I saw something about Hulkenburg possibly driving for Haas next year with Grosjean retiring, which is great.
They did very well in their first years, I'm alright pulling for them in the hard times. I want to see them do better. I know its not going to happen until 2022.
