I'd been looking for a BMW Z4M coupe in 2009, but none were on the market (found out later that only 127 came to Canada, of 1815 for North America). Bought and modded an even rarer Pontiac Solstice coupe instead.
Recently found a Z4MC at a price I liked with only 40,000 miles on it, originally a US car later imported into Canada. Look forward to playing with it. Love the sound - 3.2 straight 6 engine that puts out 330 bhp at 7900 rpm (red lines at 8,000)
Keeping it as a pair with my Solstice (which is actually a quicker car, now with 375 bhp out of 2 litres). Think the colours work well together....

Congratulations! That's a stunning pair...
You have fine taste in automobiles
Nice! Which one's more fun?
Talked my dad into buying one a few years back. I like that it is funky and different, makes fantastic noises.
I love that you were like "Hey at least I can get this even more rare solstice coupe. I'm gonna mod it!"

The stock Solstice would have handled about on par with the BMW and would have been slower. The BMW is 200 lbs heavier but has 330 bhp as opposed to the stock Solstice with 260 or the GM tune with 290. My Solstice is sitting at 375 bhp/375 TQ now and is faster than the Z4MC (it can now get into the 12.9 range in the 1/4)and handles better but the Z4 sounds so damned good.
I don't intend to do too much to the Z4 other than new rubber (it is still on original tires) and possibly sway bars, but I'll take it slow and learn all I can about them before leaping to modify.
As for modding cars, I had that discussion with a collector type about my 88 Fiero (~6500 made) back around 1990 when I bought it. He was all for leaving it dead stock. I told him I'd rather lose some money on resale than live with the damned thing in stock form and went to it. That's generally my attitude to any car I own (should have seen my sixpack big block Chrysler old Jensen CV-8!) except my Lamborghini Islero where there really wasn't anything left to modify except to remove a couple of resonator so I could enjoy the glorious sound it made!
