I would definitely grab up a notch or hatch and begin swapping parts ! !

I picked up short money '86 5.0 GT convertible for the drive train a short while ago, didn't need the stuff right away and had no place to store the car so a friend took to drive around for the Summer. Within a month or so the rear quarter window motors/gears failed, the top split around the rear window, blinker switch started to crumble (heat or exposure?) exhaust rotted loose, and distributor module went. He keeps coming by looking for coin to repair things since it's, "my car." I'm about ready to just take it back and begin stripping it out, room in the driveway or not.

Ditch trying to repair the convertible and build a nice solid no fuss notch for yourself, no question.

Luck,

TC
