1987 Sierra, 2wd, automatic, full bench seat, V-6, 2 fuel tanks, air-conditioning, all original, about 78,000 miles. Very little rust--never driven in the Winter/ needs paint job. Full size box. Paint is blue with white & sun faded. Chrome is decent as well and I believe she and her husband are the original owners.
She's thinking about selling it in the spring and is wondering about what she should ask for it.
Looks very similar to this one:

If I had time and money, I would be tempted myself to do this:

Around here in KY, you might get 2-3500 with no rust.

The V6 might hurt the price a little but I think a $3,500 ask with a $3,000 get if the body and running condition are good.
If this truck is going to be sold in an area that sees quite a bit of snow...the value will not be as high as it would be if it was for sale outside the "Rust Belt".
Where my folks live (Northern Pa.) almost no one drives/owns a 2WD pickup anymore, and certainly not a full-sized 2WD with a V6.
But hey, when gas starts to really climb (about the end of April/beginning of May)....who knows? A V6 may gain in value anywhere.
$2800 would be a fair 'take' price

The choices were few so I compared all domestic pu's of similar vintage and similar mileage w/in 200 miles of where this may be being sold.
'87 was the first year for fuel injection on the v8 trucks not sure about the v6. I know that people who are into these square body G.M's will pay a little premium for an '87 because they get a little better m.p.g. Maybe ask here?

Maybe the no-rust thing makes people crazy elsewhere but that's 1500-2k where im at.

That will be an odd truck to sell in or around GR. Not many folks want 2WD. Not many want a V-6.
I'm thinking the best sales angle on this would be "solid body, low-mile truck, waiting for your favorite drivetrain."

I'd love to get it if it were 4x4 ... need it as a tow vehicle for my crx ... but need 4x4 for my driveway

anyone that buys a fullsize GM truck with a carbureted V6 thinking they are going to get better mileage is in for a big surprise.. a 350 would be better at everything and at least as efficient.
around here that's a $1500-$2000 truck, and i know i personally wouldn't pay over $1000 for it since i'd only be looking for a solid body to replace the rotted out body on my truck.

I think this truck is old enough that a person in the rust belt would buy it to use as a hobby vehicle in the summer. It's the last year of the 1973-1987 generation of trucks.
To me, any running full size truck is worth 2k. I sold a 86 that had a non-running crate 350, and shotty electrics last year for $750 at my yard sale.
Thanks for your input....I was thinking $2k - $2.5 just because it has a solid body.

same here....v6 and 2wd hurt it.

I think you'd have a hard time getting $2500 for it.
Around here you can't throw a rock without hitting a full size pickup, $2k max. I've looked at several fords of roughly the same spec (6cyl, 2wd, 8ft bed) and plenty to be had for just over $1k.

Rust free in Michigan is a big plus. 4x2 in Michigan is a big minus. I'd ask $4000 and be prepared to accept $3000.
How is the body? Not on the truck, but on the friend?
Down here, I don't think that truck would go for more then $2000.
