WHIO: Dash cam captures teens’ body slam into windshield in Miamisburg
My friend had his windshield and hood damaged Friday night at a local movie theater, about 3 miles from my house. His dashcam caught the whole thing. One has been caught, they're hoping he gives up the other shiny happy person.
I'm seriously debating getting another camera.
They need to bust those punks!
That makes me really happy they got caught. Karma (car-ma?)
Everyone should have these. Just curious, what camera did he have? I like that it runs even with the car off.
Awesome!!! I'm so glad that they caught these worthless pieces of E36 M3.
I can't stand criminals of any degree, but senseless crime deserves a special place in hell. Not trying to steal, not mad at the victim, just randomly trying to ruin someone's day. berkeley them.

I was curious, he commented to someone else on Facebook " BlackVue DR650S " Also the kids had gotten kicked out of the movie they were seeing and came out to do this instead.
Wow, just random, pointless vandalism? That's scary.
Whats more shocking to me is that there must have been 20+ people passing by the car in that video that saw this take place. Were all of them OK with this?

It looks like the people who passed by as it happened were all in the same group...although huge bands of roaming vandals is arguably worse.

Does catching the perp actually help in getting the car fixed? Or is insurance/the owner still basically on the hook?
owner's insurance is probably still on the hook, but now he can press claims in court for restitution

G Sensors.
When the car is parked/off, if the camera senses a G force, it automatically saves the previous 20 or so seconds and then continues running for a predetermined amount of time.

I'll try to keep up with the story. I kept seeing his Facebook post all weekend and it pissed me off more each time. He's a good kid, recent high school grad, and pit together a nice GTI. His dad has autocrossed and road rallies since the 80s, naturally the kid got the bug.
He still managed to put new wheels on Sunday when it was nice out, and go for a short cruise and get a photo. That's a pretty awesome attitude.
Similar things occurred in Brambleton VA. Kids leave the movie theatre and proceed to break rear windows in the parking deck. Went on over several months. I never heard of them being caught.
Similar has been going on for as long as humans decided to own "stuff."
Maybe depending on the state, a civil suit could be processed against the accused to try and recover any funds lost to the owner. But if the insurance company waives the deductible and covers a rental then there would probably be no basis for damages in a civil suit. Consult a lawyer.
I'm interested to know what dash cam he was running.
