Seems like 300hp is an easy way to put shut up a lot of people who look at the Miata as a "girl's car". Or does it just not fit? I've never seen an OHC V engine in a Miata, I could certainly understand a DOHC V being just too wide.
One can get 300hp out of a stock 4cylinder. Subaru does....no V6 needed. And the MS3 engine is pretty close to that too, in a 4cyl.

I also doubt that Mazda would ever put a rotary in the Miata, but why no V6? Seems like 300hp is an easy way to put shut up a lot of people who look at the Miata as a "girl's car". I don't think it fits the image of the Miata. It would also bump it up in the insurance ratings. The Miata is supposed to be a cheap to own and use sports cars. A reliable version of small engined Brit and Italian cars from decades gone past

KL + Miata = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocQ_R5MO7Vc
Don't know if anyone has dropped a DOHC V6 into a newer one however.
I have blue balls from the video. Ugh.
I noticed that his stock gages didn't work

New Miatas are $35k to $40k (fully loaded) here. I can get into a 1 series beamer for that kind of coin!
If the FRS/BRZ is as mind-numbingly boring/uncomfortable as a miata, please add me to the list of h8t3rz, y0.

Im pretty sure theres no way in hell either one is going to be boring.
But then again, i dont find too many cars boring, although sometimes the places i drive them are.
To paraphrase, if you're driving's boring, you're driving boring.
My 58hp and terrible handling CRX HF is pretty boring most of the time, though. I dont know why people keep bringing it up in hybrid discussions. A Prius is less boring (and gets better mileage with 2x more space and 1300 more lbs, but i digress).

Blue balls? Expecting something that did not come?

I do hope this fixes that dire situation.

That car is currently for sale, btw. Though, it no longer has that ITB setup, because i have it.
I can also guide whomever buys it on how to gain a pretty substantial amount of power for very little money if they're willing to put in some time.

my translation might be a bit off but I'm pretty sure in the first minutes of the vid they called the miata driver a girl and made a reference to "playing tummy sticks"

...where is it advertised?
Miataturbo.net.
Beware: Price is salty, but NO corners were cut in building this car. Bear in mind that at one point it was built as an assault on the SSM class.
Holy berkeley! $15000? I'll just keep piecing together turbo parts..

It's OBO... i'm pretty sure he would go a little lower.
And like i said... i know how to coax another 20-30whp out of it for peanuts.
But yeah... turbo is probably cheaper in this case. Gotta remember when it was built there wasn't much KL Megasquirt support.

It's an awesome car, and I hope he gets 15 for it. It just won't be from me. I could never tie that much money up in a Miata.

Did you check his blog for his turbo miata build? He decided the KLiata wasn't the hot ticket for SSM so he built a ridiculous turbo BP Miata because.... well... because.

Sounds like I need to have a look, since my principle goal is ridiculousness and my only reasoning is because.
at least with the turbo miata.. he might have working gages
mad_machine wrote:

I believe the gauges in the V6 car work now. It's not hard to make them work with the KL swap.
It's not the same owner as who was driving it in the videos previously posted.
What struck me about the video was how well the Miata hung in there. With a worse power-to-weight ratio and more body lean, I expected the Toybarus to walk away with it.

The NC can't run a 255 without fender pulling. 235 is more realistic on an unmodified body. Just FYI.
I know with rolling not pulling--I am sure the Tire Rack guys didn't violate the SCCA ST rules.
As someone who has actually put the exact same wheel/tire combo used on the GRM/Tire Rack NC on a 2006 - pulling is required. I don't care what the regs say, I only know what the metal says.
255/40R17 Star Specs was actually the first modification they made to the car too. If this is really not possible within the confines of ST rules, GRM really needs to publish a correction to the project series.
