This one actually took me longer to put together (and honestly, I hadn't yet found the "magic sell" for this one in my classes; it was still evolving with each presentation). I -think- this take on it works ok.  Let me know if it makes sense to you fellers.

That's awesome.  You definitely have a talent for teaching.  You taught this old fart something.

Limp home mode.  Very nice.  Highly illustrative.

Hey man, I might have jumped the gun, but I sent this to my son to send to his auto teacher. If Mr Thayer reaches out, it was me. Sorry!  I thought this was too good to not share.

No worries, man.  I post this stuff up just FOR that sort of thing.

I also have ALL my curriculum and learning materials online (password protected) for other shop teachers to use and teach from (if they want). Send along this: https://www.gwellwood.com/subjects/mechanics/

We all steal our junk from somewhere, and it's not likely that I am going to be bumped by someone from outside the school district using MY curriculum.  I love to teach, might as well shre it.

I have to watch this later. Personally a little skeptical as the best place for a TBI unit is the garbage. If that's the example for EFI, put a link to your carb video as "the fix for this mess" in in your video description. laugh

I'm not sure what you're saying.

Are you saying that you don't think that TBI belongs in the trash?

Are you saying that -I- am saying TBI belongs in the trash?

Are you saying that TBI is not a good example of EFI?

The POINT of the video is to explain how EFI works to highschool students.

Watch the video - I'm interested in your feedback.

I'd rather have a carb then TBI and I hate carbs. Although everyone and their brother seems to want me to work on them archaic fuel mixers.....

Changed the title image, because it is flashy and has more colours. Though it is significantly less "visually informative" than the old title.

If you're new to this thread - old title:

To be clear TBI belongs in the trash cool

I really liked the explanation and flow. I had to stop at the Megasquirt part but I have high hopes having seen the rest.

My intended audience is highschool students who know nothing.

I'm not asking you (or anyone) to "embrace" TBI.

If you're trying to say that I should make no mention of an EFI system that has been on millions and millions of vehicles all around the globe in the "Fuel System" section of my Mechancs 11 class, you're mistaken.

Intended audience of the video.

Intended purpose of the video.

I get why it's in there, and it was quickly passed over for other things. The fact it was in the picture that starts the video was the worrying part.

If hte kids relate to older V8's that can be converted from a carb to some carb like EFI, it makes sense.

On the other hand, if they relate to newer engines of any type, then it does not.

Either way, Skinny- I liked the video,  Especially how you explained how the signals got from a *property* (temp, speed, pressure, etc) and turned that into a signal for the computer to interpret and use.  The only "correction" I would use would be to put the MAF sensor into the same bin as the MAP sensor.  They do the same thing in terms of trying to measure how much air is in the cylinder, therefore how much fuel to inject.  Both are realistically mechanical measurements- one of flow, the other of pressure.

But that's not really important- just how I have related the two measurements over my life.

Most of the kids I get generally don't know poo from apple sauce.  Most can't tell the difference between a carb or a TBI unit or a Throttle Body.  When I brought in the V8 Firefly to show it off, I had to explain what it was they were looking at.  You might be putting too much hope in my clientele (grin).

Having said that.....

I -did- have a nagging feeling when I chose to use the TBI image, to not use the TBI image.  I chose to, however, because it was a picture I myself took (no copyright or royalty or nothing), and it was a nice, non-cluttered picture of something that certainly IS fuel injection.

Having said that.....

The young generation (if not this one) likes to see flash and bling and seems more interested in exciting than content.  I switched to the ITB's on my 4AGE, because there is lots of color and it looks cool, but it really shows zero of the EFI system, and really all you're looking at is the valve cover.  It will be interesting to see if the analytics pick up with the cooler picture.

Anyway, uploaded wheel alignment video today.  Trying to get the next one done soon.
