So, roughly how much pressure does a return line see?

The system is a sock chevelle tank with 5/16 pickup, feeding a low pressure pump (15psi). Low pressure feeds a surge tank through 3/8 feed line. Feed line from surge is 3/8 to ford e2000 pump, to gm tbi, to 5/16 back to surge tank. Overflow from surge to chevelle tank is 3/8.

Yes, I know an e2000 is way overkill for a 15psi tbi system, but the lower pressure pumps seem to have trouble under heavy prolonged throttle conditions, like autocross.

Tl:dr do I need to go high pressure lines and clamps for tbe 5/16 steel return line to surge tank, or standard line be fine?

0psi.

Not enough to need injection rated stuff, though it is nice.

As long as you are not restricted at the outlet, it wont have any significant pressure. If you are headed to an NHRA track, you cant have much rubber hose.

What did I do to my keyboard that makes it print è instead of just an apostrophe ÉéùÙMm WTF

Restart fixed whatever button I pushed.

Anyway, there is some rule at NHRA limiting you to 24", I think, of rubber hose. There are some braided ones they accept now, but steel line is still the tube of choice.

I thought it was 12" rubber hose?

If you need high pressure lines for the return side, something is seriously wrong. It should see less pressure than the feed side of a carb fuel system, ideally zero.

You are correct sir. 12" of rubber hose max for NHRA.

This thing would fail nhra long before the amount of rubber hose.

Duster is done with only six inches, but it has a carb.

Eventually I may redo for less than 12, but thst would require a different fuel tank. Maybe if I go multiport down the road.

I think SS braided AN line is legal, it's just non metallic reinforced rubber they worry about.

I didn't bother searching for the book. Just thought I'd put it out there, knowing somebody would do the research I was too lazy to do. Thanks!
