The thought of co-building a DP Miata made me realize I'd need a full-face helmet for autox. I've always bought HJC open-face ones because they're cheap & I don't need anything SA-rated as I don't see myself doing track days ever. I also have a small head - seriously, the HJC in a size Small fits me perfectly. There's only a couple motorcycle shops around, so I won't have much selection to try on, and most of their helmets typically aren't SNELL-rated at anyway.
Do any of you have experience with cheap/non-SA full-face helmets that fit better with eyeglasses?
Oh, and FYI I cannot wear contacts any more. I had them 20-years ago, but one adhered to & ripped my cornea. Yeah, that hurt like a motherberkeleyer.
My current bike full face allows me the room for glasses. I'ts an HJC that I got from BikeBandit a couple years back.
I've had an Arai Signet and an Icon.... Er, can'trememberwhatmodel... both of which accepted my glasses without undue trouble or discomfort.
I wear thick-framed Ray Ban Wayfarers under a Shoei Quest with no issues. Because I am very 80s cool. Or, too cheap to buy new contemporary styled glasses. Possibly both. In any case - there is room for glasses in a shoei helmet. Behold the glory...
Cool, thanks for the feedback. And Bob, that's great news on the HJC - I'm a cheap SOB, I just wish there were still $10 helmets for my $10 head.
I have been using a Bell helmet for about five years without any issues.
And plus one for Bike Bandit.
My last full face was a cheap G-Force. I wore prescription sunglasses under it for 2 hour stints without a problem.
I've worn sunglasses under every helmet I've ever owned. Currently HJC, Shoei and Racequip

Some helmets are rather tight to wear glasses with. My Bell was OK but depended on the style of frame - i.e. now bowed out Oakley style ear things. I just got a new Pyrotect and it was real tight sliding my glasses in. I figure I'll wear it in.

You know, I had been planning on sleeping tonight.
Brrrr.
I tend to wear glasses under my full-face helmet, for some odd reason the other track users tend to appreciate it when I can see them .
I have the SA 2010 model of this guy and am pretty happy with it. Keep in mind that I tend to use bendy titanium frames for my glasses as I've broken too many frames riding motorcycles.
That said, I probably need to switch over to contacts to fulfill the vision requirements when I apply for my SCCA license.
Really thin wireframe glasses with some wraparound are necessary to be able to take advantage of the broad field of view a motorcycle helmet allows. It's less important with a SA.
