It was an "old guys rule" kind of day at Martin SCC yesterday. I won a big 10-car B Street class, and 2nd place was another old-timer like me (also in a Focus RS). The two of us ended up 2nd and 3rd in PAX (I think - haven't seen the official PAX results yet), bested only by an AS Vette driven by someone who is also not a spring chicken.
As I mentioned last week, I traded up to some bigger tires (255/35-18 RE-71R's), and they worked really well yesterday. The car was more neutral and much grippier than before, and of course the Twinster diff planted every bit of power down to the ground flawlessly. The result was 7th fastest raw time out of 102, a pretty impressive number for a completely factory stock vehicle, even with its factory alignment. Did I mention I love this car?
It's in the shop right now for the head gasket recall, and I've got a base automatic SE sedan - boooooring - for a loaner. Give me my FoRS back soon!
