The TDI option is tempting. I remember that the factory raced them so go fast bits should be out there

If you're okay with 115hp, you can get close to the same fuel economy with the gas 2-liter.
Edit: At least 35, anyway. Downside is it is very very hard to find a clean 2-liter but TDIs tend to be better taken care of.
Mine is a unicorn: MK4 but with the last gen (mechanical injection) engine. 2 door 5 speed, roll up windows, manual seats and HVAC. I wanted to avoid the VAG electronics. Koni shocks, Eibach springs, Diesel Geek skid plate. All of the suspension has been refreshed.
I was/am going to adress a few needs and ask a fair price for it. As it sit now (100% drivable) it can be had for Challenge money

Stock is 90 HP 155 torks. I think that's a typo. Feels like 150/200. Shoot me an IM if your interested and I'll gather the specifics and tell you the goods and bads.
I am surprised at how cheap the Toyota MR Spyders go for nowadays. I'm not in the market for one, but seems like a reliable, practical and fun option. I would imagine you could get over 30 on the highway depending on the gearing.

I see one every day near my office. If I wasn't saving up for an exocet chassis, I'd have put a note under the wiper. The wife and I are starting to enjoy having a convertible around in the form of the miata. once it gets chopped up, the MR Spyder is high on the list of replacements.
