to show just how fast a TF car actually is compared to another form of race vehicle.. it helps people to grasp just how fast things are compared to other things- saying that something goes 330mph from a standing 1/4 mile is a hard thing to grasp until you see it race something that is likely lucky to hit 100mph in the same distance..
That pass at about 1319' is awesome! 
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen to illustrate the violence of a top fuel/funny car launch.
I remember a few (read many) years back there was a video of a street car, a touring car and an F1 car doing a lap at a track. they set off in a staggered start and there were two commentators doing play-by-play. About halfway through the video one of them get up and walks away because he was going to be driving the F! car...
Found it, but I guess I didn't remember it as well as I'd thought...
