Found this on the world wide web. Pretty funny watching this guy try to pilot a Gallardo around MSR. Nothing spectacular (no crash) but funny to watch his driving style (i.e. lack of apex, Italian driving style, etc).
And does this Gallardo actually have an air suspension driver seat??? Holy cow it's bouncy.

You can tell that's a serious operation by the lack of helmet for both the driver and the passenger! 
a minute of that was enough. obliviously a rich armature who never had a go kart or got sideways in a beater for the hell of it. He might well be one of my dungeons and dragons/comic book collecting/progressive rock pondering/bong toking friends? ALL OF THEM GOT RICH. None of them had cars. I gave them rides everywhere. Hmm.
Besides that, one of these camera outfits really needs to hire the right 2-5 people for 6 months to devop a simple firmware wind filter. Wind always sounds like wind. It can we gotten rid of. That is a great sounding car- i am pretty sure......

By how much he was leaning and twisting whenever he turned the wheel and his bouncing around I believe he had the seat reclined to far back and was holding himself up by the steering wheel.

I'm concerned about his lack of personal safety standards.
I could only watch the first minute or so. The only thing he didn't do was grab the inside of the wheel, that's a HUGE pet peeve of mine.
The "instructor" should have stopped him in the paddock and helped him get into a proper seating position before driving onto the course...and donned helmets at the very least...and maybe yanked a plug wire or two.

I think its the ejection seat trying to launch his fat butt out of the car so it could get on with enjoying the course...Sort of like me and horses.
I agree that the instructor should have made him set the seat correctly and told him how to hold the wheel, but come on, everyone has to start somewhere. Don't hate him for having hte $'s to start in a Lambo.
On the safety gear, year it's surprising for the US, but if you go to the Nurburgring there's not a helmet to be seen (except the bikers) and the chance of bad things happening is much greater.
I'd like everyone here to post their first lap on a race track for consideration so we can see what kind of experts ya'll were when you started.
For a lot of new drivers, just making it all the way around is a challenge - at least this guy was enthusiastic about it.
I did a similar event with GT Dream Cars at Englishtown's Raceway Park in a Ferrari 430 Scuderia. I realized it was a joke when the "instructors" weren't even wearing helmets (drivers were required to). IMHO, anyone who gets in the passenger seat without a helmet at one of these events is crazy.
You'd have to be insane to instruct at an event like that.

I should see if my parents have any, I guarantee you it's better. The first time I took a full-sized car on a track was even better than that.

Do you know what you'll get when you take out the wind though? Whatever's left. Shreds of engine noise and cabin speak. I know on my autocross vids if I applied such a filter it would sound like I was driving through space once I get above ~50kph.

That looks like one of those deals where you show up for a club event and they let you do a few laps as a thrill ride. It isn't an HPDE or whole open track day where the guy was prepared to be on a race track. The instructor is usually holding the walkie-talkie to get the "5 minutes are up" signal. They do these things at Pocono during the italian car festival.

For the GT Dream Cars one, my "instructor" was a college kid. I didn't get the impression he had any performance driving experience other than "instructing" at this event. Now, I will say that GT Dream Cars completely neuters the cars. I think they put it in snow mode or something. Full throttle coming off a 30 MPH corner, and it was still holding 5th gear (it was the automatic). And I had the stability control kick in extremely hard in the banking of the last corner. The funny thing was that I was pushing it far harder on other parts of the course and it didn't protest. I have to wonder if it's calibrated for a certain g-force, and maybe I exceeded that because I had the banking working for me.
I think a part of the strategy with these events is they limit laps so you don't get comfortable enough in the car to really push it and become a danger to yourself and others. That can backfire for them, as you can have someone who approaches it as a time-trial and only has 4 laps to set the lap record. In a car they've never driven before... With a video camera on...
Given the second scenario, I'm shocked they don't have serious instructors at these events. I'm sure if a solid instructor prevented only one crash, they'd save the company a fortune. Insurance for these events must be sky-high, and if they can't get insured, then they're out of business.
The other thing working in their favor in most cases is the economics. A higher cost tends to keep the younger joy-riders away and you'll get a more seasoned (and hopefully more mature) crowd. However, in my case it was a $99 Groupon for three laps (they gave everyone four), so I'm sure they attracted the younger crowd.

The GoPro cameras have superb noise filtering.

Actually I use a GoPro HD 960 with the open back (closed back gives less wind noise but sounds really muffled) but it's mounted outside the cabin.
Well, he IS working with an instructor. So he is trying. I may be harder on the instructor/course than on the driver.
And while it might be fun to poke fun at the geek who never grew up driving and working on cars, it is his ass in the driver's seat and not mine..the final laugh is his. With practice and his amount of money, he might become a better driver if he works at it. I ain't gonna get rich ever no matter how many hours I work.
