Today I went to lunch at the local 5 guys for a burger and fries. I was driving my trusty 1975 BMW 2002 that I have less than $4k into including new tires, brakes, and a megajolt conversion. A Nissan GT-R pulls into the space next to me - I think there are only 2 examples of locally so it's not a common thing to see around here.

Three college aged kids sit down at the table next to me and we all have a good view out the window into the parking lot from our tables. One of the kids is enthralled with something outside and finally says to his two buddies, "Man, that sure is a nice BMW out there!"

I almost shot a french fry out of my nose. I thought about tracking down the GT-R driver and offering him a trade so he could get so respect from the younger generation.

Same feeling I had when over at a friend's house, I heard Ten Years After blaring through the speakers. Who was listening?

His 12 year old son.

We just might make it after all..

A 2002 has my attention over a skyline, but after 3 of them, I'm biased.

Here's a counterpoint:

I was at an ice cream shop last summer, and i parked between an old done-up Plum Crazy Mopar, and a brand new BMW 5-series.

I walked in, and a middle-aged guy in his mid late 40s came up to me and said "That your Celica? That's an awesome car, you should be proud."

I was a bit weirded out.
