After having the trooper shut down by my mom, my search has led me to this

It seems alright except for the 277k miles, but with proper maintenance is that an issue with these? It has the 5-speed which is the main selling point. How does this price look to you folks?

Seems about a grand hot where I am. Manual etc, i wouldnt give more than a out 2500 bucks.
yea i think mndsm is right about the price being a touch high. but otherwise it seems like a nice 4runner, those 3.4's are known for being pretty dead reliable.
Are you looking for an 4x4 specifically? Going to actually take it off road? For that price range I'd buy a Jeep XJ and put the extra 2 grand into modifying it.

You're right, needs more break-in driving
4Runners that move are $5k where I live.
I didn't think that the SR5 was available with leather back then, so that might be an interior out of a Limited. Again, not sure.
You can't see where the switch would be in the pictures, but there is a VERY SMALL chance this has a rear locker, too. Since it is a 5 speed, if it has an E-locker the price will probably not move and somebody will be doing a fly and drive to get it before too long.

Yea, having shopped those a bit prior to buying my XJ, I don't think that price is terribly out of line, even given the mileage.
That being said, I agree with the comments above that an XJ Cherokee is really the answer here if you're looking for a cheap 4x4. Cheap to buy, cheap/easy to maintain, massive aftermarket, production run of almost 20 years so tons of used parts available...I can go on
