Some good deals on tires, including a lot of performance tires GRM'ers use.   Only a couple of hours. Just FYI, no affiliation.

Grrr need a set for the Merc and no joy.

I also discovered recently that Amazon saves me about $50/tire over tire tack. Not sure how ordering tires will be from them. Here is hoping they are not 7 year old tires or something like that. .

Got a set of Conti DWS06 for Mrs DD Mazda 5. I had a set of them on my Ralliart and loved them.

Sweet! I was able to get it to work for staggered front/rear sizes. You have to add them all at once for it to recognize that they are a set of 4; if you add them 2 at a time, no discount.

Now to see if I can get away with stacking the General $70 rebate with the $80 flash sale on the GMAX RSes.

An update: they sent me three tires with a 4118 date code, and one dated 2119.

Very much NOT HAPPY! I guess I'll start with an email. Any suggestions or comments?

That sucks. The Generals I got were only a couple months old.

Tire Rack has always been good about explicitly stating when they are selling tires with old date codes. Apparently DTD isn't as forthcoming.

Edit:  oops 2.5 years

4118 is October.  That makes them 2.5 years old.  Not great but not impossible.

Was the price a "great price"?  How many miles will you put on them in the next 7.5 years (making them 10 years old)?

If you don't think you'll wear through them in 7.5 years then return them.

If the tires are brand new and have been sitting in a warehouse.. they will have aged very little as a performance tire. they'll have aged some and not provide peak performance.. but I also have no idea what tires you actually bought.

The car gets driven at the most about 5000 miles a year.

The tires are Continental DWS06.

Ah, yeah.. so you'll basically always age tires out.. I don't think you're losing anything with the older date code tires.. but it's not my money.. so YMMV.

Just unwrapped my Yoko A052's.....3919. Not a happy camper. A kindly worded email will be my first course of action. Let us know if you have any luck.

I'd bet a LOT of money.. you'd never be able to tell any difference.. heat cycles are what matters most on super 200's and race tires.. and those tires have not seen heat cycles sitting in a warehouse..

Generally I'm fine with anything within 2 years.  If they're over that, I get fussy if it's a performance tire or going on a car that doesn't get driven a lot.  But if they'll see a lot of miles and I don't care about every drop of performance, I won't complain much about a 3 year old tire.

Something like the A052 is the one place you might be able to tell a slight difference. I've seen a lot of anecdotal evidence going both ways. But with low production specialty tires like that sometimes it's unavoidable especially in the less common sizes. The set of A052s I bought from Tire Rack in the middle of last summer were more than a year old. It's pretty common to get rivals that are 2+ years old even directly from BFG. Re71Rs were last produced in 2019, anyone buying them now is getting 18 or 19 date codes if not older.

I certainly wouldn't be bothered by 2 year old DWSes.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to hold off on contacting the vendor until tomorrow; I'd like to see what other comments get posted.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I guess my expectations where a little skewed since I am replacing a set of 7-year old RE71's that feel like stones but still have tons of what I suspect is "hard" rubber left. Doing the quick math on 3919 tells me they are about 1.5-years old. Sounds like I'll be OK.

I called the customer service line yesterday, they're paying shipping to return my tires and sending a newer set. I'll update again when they arrive.

So far, quite pleased with the response to my call. I didn't even have to ask.
