I see the opportunity to get one on the cheap. Naturally aspirated 2.4L, unfortunately automatic. I know the supercharged and turbo SS cars are ones to get, but this would be just a cheap daily

If you're asking if the Kia G5 (the redesigned and renamed Optima) will make a good daily driver, the answer is very much, yes. Will it be ultra-sporty? Likely not, but there are worse choices. Will it be Carmry-like? Yes. is that an all bad thing? Not really.

Based on the comments about the supercharged and turbocharged options, I'm guessing he's talking about the Pontiac G5, which was just a less common Chevy Cobalt:
Ahhh. Yeah, The Pontiac G5.
Could be fun but the automatic will sap some of the life out of the plain 2.4L. Sure, the 2.4L is an upgrade from the 2.2L but not an enormous performance improvement.
If it's cheap I would. They're reliable and have a decent aftermarket with plenty of cheap parts. The autos are not bad, and with a few mods the 2.4 makes decent power. Watch for rust
The GT gets a bit better suspension vs the base model. 5 lug wheels vs 4 lug, aluminum control arms up front, and disc brakes out back. Could be a nice DD. Nice styling bits too. The 2.4 likes premium gas.
The manaul shifter in non SS cars always felt bad to me.
Yes, watch for rust.
