So project caprice is hitting a snag. For some unknown reason I can't adjust the tv cable to where it needs to go.
I have adjusted it to some tension at idle/ no throttle and after pushong the throttle all the way down and listening to it index itself to its adjustment .....the cable is slack again at idle.
I have spring tension at the tranny, I can pull it out to hook it up under tension to the carb but it won't spring back to right at idle, there's a quarter inch of play.
Wtf am I doing wrong here? I'm sure it's something stupid
The only thing I can think it is is the old junkyard tranny doesn't have quite the spring tension anymore on the valve. I guess my only option is zip ties ala throttle cable fix

I thought this was gonna be hdmi vs dvi. I'll let myself out.
Lol, I wish it was
So is slack at idle ok? I'm sure someone has a 700r4 equipped vehicle here
My TH350 cable is adjusted at WOT, just like the 700R4. There is a little slack until maybe quarter to half throttle, and then it starts to work its magic. Whenever I've adjusted 700R4 cables, it's just set at WOT and then fuggedaboudit.
Is there something happening that makes you think this isn't working correctly?
check out bowtieoverdrives.com I think they have a step by step for it
dunno what you mean by indexing itself but every adjustment I made was by removing the clip in the tv cable assy. at the carb end, opening carb to WOT and replacing the clip. done

been going to them for reference for years.
the biggest issue i ever had was trying to get one adjusted, then realizing it was a F body trans in a truck, and they left the TPI cable on and it just didn't work with the tbi.
In reply to SkinnyG:
Some of the about 70 ways I've read to adjust said cable said slack at idle = tranny death.
If slack is ok then awesome, I did it right, dignity in tact
What transmission are you trying to adjust?
There are different procedures for different cables AND different transmissions.
The TH350 alone has three different styles of cable adjustment.
