Another thing I learned (Car Talk,) is that the fuel filler is usually on the opposite side of the car from the tailpipe.
So that's why C4 Corvettes have the tailpipes down both sides of the car and the gas cap in the middle. Although putting the fuel filler and the tailpipe on opposite sides does make sense from a packaging standpoint.

Unless of course you own a Wagon Queen Family Truckster, then the filler is on the front fender.

I am confident that she would have done the same thing another several dozen times had the other car not pulled in and blocked her from making another lap around.
Some people just need to be euthanized. Terminal stupidity.
Soooo, 3 pages and no one has mentioned the fact yet that you can fix this issue yourself with a piece of masking tape and a pen. Draw an arrow and place tape on dash to remind yourself which side.
Do it permanently with a marker or something is another option. Super easy mod, never forget again. Many function over form cool factor points.
Actually it depends on how the fuel line is routed.
Classics aside, don't most cars have this? Or is the issue walking all the way around the car?
The zephyr is passenger side, wifes car is driver side and truck i dont remember.

I tend to get gas at Costco. They make the hoses about a block long, so you can fuel any car at any pump. Why doesn't every gas station do this?

There's usually an arrow on the gas gauge indicating the side of the filler, that or the side the handle is on in the pictogram.
not on the samurai see
*note that has been modded to led's.
note which side the fuel pump's handle is on.. that will tell you where the filler on the car is
That's a great theory and it would be nice if it was true, but it's not. At least not reliably.

Trying to remember which side the gas door is on is one of the many curses of the multi-brand automobile owner.
I have that problem between my E46 and DW's TSX. And to make it worse, the BMW has the windows switches grouped on the console and the Acura has them on the door. It doesn't matter which car I drive, I always reach for the wrong place first.

Because the fools I see fueling up in those type of places would figure out how to run over their own hose.

Fuel cell.
Fuel cells have no place in a daily drivin' car with full amenities. That's a waste of a perfectly good trunk, and then you would also have to get rid of the functionality of fold-down rear seats since fuel cells have to be sealed from the passenger compartment.
I know, picky picky... but they never sold the small Evos here and I think it'd be sweet to have one.
Came to thread to point out: Fuel gauge on right, fuel icon handle on right, filler on left.

You made my brain hurt. Thanks for that.
BTW my Peugeot has its filler on the right. I'm guessing they all do and they didn't change that for RHD cars specifically. No arrow.
We have a station here with super long hoses that can work either side which is nice.
My 63 Continental was in the back center panel and it was 19 feet long so I used to have to pull WAY up and slightly at an angle. And it took an hour to fill up....
