The new one is actually 1.6" shorter, less than .5" wider and weighs a whole 33lbs more but now has a 6 speed manual, 11% more power (130hp vs 117), and 7% more torque (114 vs 107). But yes bad Honda.. Bad.
Ok, you and at least one other guy have the specs and I applaud you for pointing these things out, I stand corrected with regards to this version of the Honda but the trend in the auto industry is to make cars bigger with each generation. If you dispute this then, well, I can't help you much. Lets all hope its changing, it certainly appears that way. The ford F150 is a good example. The newest Mustang, judging from what I've read on this forum, is not. I recall reading how everyone thought the mustang was going be lighter this time around and it ended up being a couple pounds heavier. I'm going off memory here so correct me if I'm wrong. Now back to my original point, I didn't dispute any statistics associated with the new Fit, I merely said the damn thing is ugly, uglier then past versions.

this Fit may be ONLY 33# heavier .. and it may be ONLY 1/2" wider … but overall it's HUGE compared to the 1st gen
a great example … look at the 1st gen CRV … now look at the latest offering from Honda .. it looks as big as the original Explorer (which now looks as big as an Excursion)
the Fit is larger in every respect than the original Accord … shoot the latest Civic is larger than the original Accord
vehicles grow in size the longer they're around … seems to be one of the irrefutable facts of nature

And it's 110% uglier. This thread is about styling or the lack thereof.
What happened to the Fit's styling? Honda did, that's what.

I dunno, 2 inches longer, <1 inch wider, 1mm shorter, and 30kg heavier than the first gen is not what I'd call "HUGE".
I guess I'm weird, I like the new model better than the outgoing one. (Though I'd prefer the first gen.)
It's blander, that's for sure, but it's the grille/nose treatment that kills it for me. I'd be very interested in the whole design approval process at various companies. Toyota and Honda generally fall into the "car as appliance" approach, and from a pure business standpoint, that's understandable. But the reason for this thread is that the previous generation Fits were a throwback to an earlier, edgier time. It's sad when we see that hot chick get soft around the middle.
Edgier time? The first one looked like a mini van.
