Any news on the General Tire Challenge?
What teams made the cut to compete?
What car(s) it will be?
We were the 18th team to sign up on-line, but I'm hearing that if you were the 19th and 20th on-line, that you may have not made the cut. (I'm thinking about Karl.)
We'll be lucky to get a participant award this year :-), so things like the Thursday night parking lot cook out, Valve Cover racing, swap meet, Town hall meeting, and the General Tire Challenge can nicely fill out the weekend of events.
if you don't make it in you can run on behalf of Team Alavanche. I have no desire to do that again this year and considered it as valuable time i lost prepping for the drag racing portion, and if i was able to have that time and get a quick run in i might have found my issue and been able to fix it and not just shut the car down.
I think we were 13th or 14th to sign up. The rest of you might as well not even enter Because our driver is the Mississippi STIG
And, no, he's not in a coma. Let's show some respect for Michael Schumacher
Besides, our tow truck needs a new set of tires to get home from Gainesville
The cars will be the same as last year: one 2016 Mazda MX-5 and a 2016 Mazda3.

Give us a few and we will have a list posted.
Does anyone else find it Ironic tat "Procrastination Racing" was one of the first to sign up for the Challenge lol?
So how does it work exactly? Each driver gets one run in each car? Times are then combined?
In reply to Circuit_Motorsports:
A little, but I understand. I generally sign up before I have purchased the car I'm bringing.
Thanks guys. I like the idea of running a front drive and a rear drive car.
In reply to Lof8:
You are correct sir. Each person gets a run in each car and the best combined time wins!
In reply to Andy Neuman:
Or the third car that you had bought and then rejected.
Andy, Yes. We are old, so don't beat us too badly. :)

:) I'll be trying hard for that free set of tires, but I know there are several other quick guys in the mix! You being one of those!
Hopefully I will win this year. I got second the last two years. Third times the charm...

I have given away my seat the past 2 years.
I think I will drive this year.
I've never autocrossed before, so this will be interesting.

last year's challenge was my first autocross and i was solid mid pack with a car that probably should have been a little faster around the cones, but i've been working on my driving.
seriously, if someone wants my spot in the general miata driveathon, let me know on the forum or at the challenge, and you can have at it.
Pat, I'd love to have it. I am just a spectator this year so if you would prefer to give it to an active competitor I understand.

as long as the powers that be are cool with a spectator running in my place, it's all yours. if you win i want the tires though

Hmmm, THAT would put us head-to-head. Interesting....
In reply to patgizz:
Probably not much of a chance of that. I don't have a problem giving you the tires, I'm just not that likely to win. You might want to give the slot to a better driver.
In reply to SVreX: Bring it Fenner!

I've already given you a small win in RWD, but this includes FWD, and I don't think you can outdo me in a FWD.
Who cares about the darned tires! Sloshua71 is in my rear view mirror!!
I'll drive on behalf of anyone (but JohnRW1621 and pimpm3 get first dibs).
I held the lead for about half the event one year (until the fast guys ran in the second half) so I'm trying again this year.
Pimpm3's took 2nd before so he'll be running too.
