I am going to push HARD for the 4kq. They are a blast, they are light, and the engine is a good engine. I owned a 5ktq, similar car, just bigger, its a 2.2t instead of 2.3n/a, but it was a blast, and with the bilstein shocks and a good set of race springs(forget the brand) it handled exceptionally well. There are a number of swaps availiable for the car as well, check out motorgeek.com or audiworld.com forums for some ideas. You could do a 10vt setup rather cheap, I used to see the motors go for 500-1000 in fine condition. the 20vt would be more power, and more expensive, but doable. The 16v gti would be my next plug. I have a 16v passat, and am rebuilding the 16v right now. To be honest, the motor is fun, but it takes a bit to make power NA, and don't expect to break 165whp or so without mucho deniro. Still, 16v's love to rev. Check out vwvortex.com > technical > 16v forums, or car forums >volkswagen > golf forum. Good luck with whatever you get, but one last plug, my 5kqt was sold at 225kmi still running well, and I am tearing my 220k 16v motor now to rebuild, the only problem we figured out, the exhaust valve guides were worn out. For god's sake you can still see the original cross-thatch on the cylinder walls at 220k mi!!! I forgot to mention, good place for troubleshooting the 2.3l N/a or 2.2l T. http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/trouble_shooting/trouble.html And for parts for a VAG car, check out stopshopanddrive.com For my first 3-4 months with my audi, those places saved me. If you get the 4k or the 16v, replace the timing belt. the 16v is an interference engine, so take nobody's word and just do it so you know its done. The 4k if the timing belt skips or anything, it simply won't start, and its a pain to track down. GL!

Chuck's MK 1 will easily carry all four street tires (mounted) in the back with room for the jack and 4 stands, air tank and tool box, EZ-UP tent and two folding chairs. No back seat, but you could manage a bicycle with a back seat no problem with the front wheel of the bike removed.

thanks! I also found an 87 Quattro CS!
the recent "considering a Saab" topic got me thinking and searching and....what about 80-90's Saabs? 900s? 9000s? Turbos?

Depends on the bike but it would be pretty tight, especially if you still had the interior installed in the car.
my vote goes toward a P71.
killer aftermarket, easy parts availability, and the sheer fun of rallycrossing one is well worth the laughs you will get. in fact, Detroit region has 2 (one is mine)
are you serious? that is awsome, i'd like that.....I dunno, I think I might have to look for one, as long as it's under $3000...
Well, the Celica is still up and the Bricks, still looking how about AWD man? haha
I would love to get a 740 wagon, older maybe newer though and put a T5 or some 5 in it.
http://lancaster.craigslist.org/ctd/909952620.html<img shaggin wagon man! Sport Compact Car said, and I quote, "you realize how easy a BMW 5.0 V12 will fit in one of these?"
I still got to look at that Celica to see if it is for sale.
