So as I get older and value comfort over sportiness in a daily driver, this cruiser popped up at a local dealership.   It's a 2005 with 85,000 miles on the clock and my OTR price was $5k even.   New tires, accessory belt/pulleys, brakes, and battery.  I think I'll spend a couple bucks and get the windows tinted and replace the CD/cassette player with a fancy Apple CarPlay unit.

So far my impression of it's driving dynamic is "leisurely/comfortable".

Smoking deal and a nice ride - like those Taxis you can probably get another 250,000 miles on it.

Getting older, ignoring it, bought a panther

Side exhaust and glass packs really make you happy in one of these.  Just sayin.

I'll say, being older, it was nice to ride in the front seat of one of these for the first time.

Shame that when ford "down sized" them in 1979, they forgot to leave room to be comfortable in the back seats!
Or so I've heard... I've never ridden in the back seat of mine

The Town Car  was a couple inches longer, but ive never ridden in the back of one of them either. Having also been blessed with never being in the back of a Vic, did not know, before my parts car, that some had plastic back seats!

Mine has had 6 full size adults in it, all buckled up, more than once!

Be very careful on the radio - it's an odd shape, and a double din WILL NOT fit!

It can be forced to, but, not without messing up the climate air, and where it flows to! There are some solutions, but they are all bad (glad to expand on this, if anyone really cares)

The handling can definitely be improved! Cheaply, at the cost of comfort, of VERY expensively, with only minor loss of comfort!

Been driving mine (was my MIL's) since 35K. Owned since 55K. At 85K, was still mint! Lots of folks ohhed and ahhed over it - I'd mention I would not sell for less than $4500.  Lots took my number, they wanted it SO bad... none ever called!

'Course this was before the year of the crazy, and it went down hill, as it was my work truck, when so many didn't work!

If it was still that clean, I still wouldn't sell it, but I wouldn't offer it for that same price anymore!

Clean ones have gotten hard to come by! He did good.

Double din faceplate with a single din "working bits" section works fine.  Just use the configuration tool at crutchfield and they'll set ya right.  I've put double din carplay units in all the panthers I owned.

My Merc was my Mother in Laws. The ONLY car I would sell 'er to get, would be an 03-04 Lincoln Town Car Signature L.
Then 3.55 gears and bolt on engine/trans parts, an SCT 4 and custom tunes!

Silver, tinted windows, 03 Marauder rims... No, I haven't thought about it much. Why do you ask? devil

Comander Cody did the very best remake of Hot Rod Lincoln:

Son, your gonna drive me ya drinkin' if ya don't stop drivin' that Hot... Rod... Lincoln!

Funny thing, I'm on the market for a new wifey DD and Panthers are top of my list.

Looked at a 1998 town car with 55k miles on it, but blown rear air suspension, mirrors needing replacement, a tank of stinky old gas, a poor looking landau top, olllld tires, and an asking of $3.8k...  too much work to wake something up that's sat for a decade.

Still shopping.

Even with the low miles, that's a $1500 car! Even with todays insane asking prices, he is still insane!

BTW on the TC, 98 was the first of the smoother body lines, and 03 changed to the high offset rims, bolt on front suspension, and hydro-formed frame, like its siblings.
once upon a time, the spring kit cost less than one air spring. Today, the air suspension is worth fixing.

Had to pass, he was convinced that someone would want to restore it and wouldn't go lower than $3500 even though it was unsafe to drive with the failed air suspension.

"Restore" and 98 TC, do NOT belong in the same sentence!
