Some already know of my project AW11 Mr2 that is nearing completion. (Was sitting for a few months and needed a refreshed 4AG) As it sits now, its awaiting injectors rebuilt so that I can finally drive it with no issues. Newer engine is in great shape and mechanic says everything checks out.

Since it's been in the shop since before both ATL snow storms, and I don't really need it, It's given me much more time to weigh my options.

My ultimate goal is to have a car that I can daily and have as a dedicated track car without too many modifications, and one that I can easily obtain parts. SWMBO and I agreed that the Z3M Coupe can be used for an occasional Club HPDE event here and there, but not the monthly auto-x that we're looking to do.

Looking at the AW11 Mr2, it doesn't add up. Parts are not that easy to come by compared to the miata, while the rarity of the AW11 makes it a better candidate to restore and drive vs. a dedicated track car.

Due to my work, I have access to plenty of vehicles nationally via dealer auction, and we also have discounted shipping. I have been looking at a few from NC. to Florida. The lead I have currently is a 1990 with about 145K miles in great shape. If that works out this week, I'll buy it, then call the folks that have expressed interest in the AW11. Red, 87, T-Tops, 180K., unmolested, minor rust on rear fender, (Have replacement fender), speedo cable included, new brakes, full ignition rebuild, no leaks, new Magnaflow, new shifter bushings., t-top guides.. minor cosmetic bumps on body. (Stay tuned for the full add).

I hope I don't regret it, but the options with a Miata are endless compared to the AW11 Mr2.

Who supports my decision?

Fully agree on your take on the Mister Two.
Very cool car, love t-tops on anything, but less ideal for a track rat.

As long as you're not tall, I'm sure you'll very much enjoy the miata experience.
I've liked mine (despite not fitting) quite a lot.
(just not enough to have any intention of ever owning one after this one)

Just a quick suggestion and it's been mentioned before in here. Not everyone knows every car by there internal designation so it's helpful if you just mention the name of the car too. I may be out of the loop but I don't know what an AW11 is. Must be an MR2 by looking at the second post. I am not bitchin', just a suggestion.

Yes, but didn't that spark your curiosity? Got to have a hook to draw people in ;)

I'd avoid the 90 just on principle and short nose crank.

In Richmond, VA is a pristine NA Miata with a hard top that even has the rear defroster setup. Black w/Tan leather interior. It's got a ton of options like cruise, head rest speakers, etc. No rust on this car at all. I sold it to the couple awhile back and they're moving it on when last I talked to them. If you're interested, pm me.

Love the miata aftermarket, goodwin, moss, FM etc. Although I find the AW11 easier to work on, might be mid engined but it's a lot easier to do a waterpump on an AW11 than a miata!
