OK so here is a stupid question, I have searched the web over and back and have yet to receive a concrete answer, hoping the sharp minds at GRM can help:

I know that the Turbo 4 and V6 Camaro 1LE cars come standard with an LSD, so the question is; do all of the Manual trans Turbo 4 and V6 models also come with the Limited Slip Diff option as standard equipment?

I repeat, no one has as yet, been able to answer this question for me definitively.

Thanks,

My understanding is all manuals have LSDs. If you want to check a specific car, with a vin number I can check vin attributes for you to be sure.

I had a very specific question about option packages and the LT1 trim Camaro.  I found a forum specifically for the 6th generation Camaro that answered my question.  If you google "6th generation camaro forum" it will be the first one that comes up.

I checked vin attributes on the vins posted, they all showed RPO code G80 which is limited slip. It has been wrong before but its normally pretty accurate. If you wanted to check to be sure when you go look at them, open the trunk and lift the floor the RPO sticker should be attached to the bottom. If you see G80 your golden.

I think he is referring to camaro6.com. It is a pretty good forum for these.

LSD code for GM is G80.  Just search the door tag for G80 and it has a LSD.

My 96 Camaro door tag.  My 2019 Chevy Colorado Z71 has the same code even though it's a totally different type of LSD.

As with pretty much anything domestic, there are no hard and fast rules which is why you can't get a straight answer.  Sometimes quotas come before parts.

If they have to get 2500 Camaros out that month and the last 20 they have no LSDs on the shelf, they get open diffs.  Easy to print a new SPID.  Not so easy to explain to the boss why you sat on your butt and missed your quota by 20 cars.

I had a 94 Caprice Wagon with the 5x4.75" wheels even though they were supposed to have 5x5.  I had an 87 El Camino with the Rally gauge package from an SS.  Stuff happens.  So even though GM might have said all the manuals get LSD, that doesn't mean they all did.

You can also go on GMs website and look at the model specs. Camaros and Mustangs have LSDs a plenty.

You'll need to log in to post.
