Trying to help out a guy in one of the local car clubs. He's building a '64 ( I think) Chevy C-10 and he needs some front rotor/hub assemblys that are 5x5 bolt pattern and 11" diameter.
I found some for him that are off a '89 C1500, but they might be slightly too big for his application. They measure up at around 11.6" dia.
What else could work?
Most of the HD cars (9C1, Wagons, etc) had 11" with 5x5" patterns. 89 trucks had a 12" rotor (IIRC) on everything except the very light GVW trucks (like a 1/2 ton stepside V6 sport model)
Its been a while since I was immersed in the mix, but there should be about 6 million applications with the 11" 5x5 rotor.
every GM car that i can think of with the 5X5 bolt pattern used a rotor that is 11.75". 11" was the size of the standard brakes in pretty much everything except the "metric" cars and trucks (A,G, and F body cars as well as the 2wd S series trucks) that had a 10.5" rotor.
there are places that sell 11" rotors drilled for the 5X5 bolt pattern, or it would be a simple operation for a machine shop... but then he's SOL for a roadside repair if a caliper freezes up and explodes a rotor or something.
why does he need an 11" rotor? did someone weld on a passenger car front clip for some reason? if it's a passenger car clip, then what's it from? if it's a 70-81 Camaro, 77-96 Caprice, or 73-77 Chevelle, then just get some spindles off a Caprice wagon or cop car with the bigger brakes and 5X5 bolt pattern- they even used 1/2" studs until the end of the "box" body style and went to 12mm when they went to the "bubble" body style.
Not sure what the truck has for suspension under it, but he did mention that if he went with larger rotors, it would hit either the bracket or the caliper mounting bolts or something in that area, I can't remember which he said.
I found some 11" rotors, but not with the 5" bolt pattern. Might have to give him a call and get some more info about this.
are wheel adapters an option?
or buy 4 11" camaroish rotors and take them to the machine shop with the studs he wants to run and have them made 5x5.
know any more info on this?
I haven't talked to him in a couple days as it's been kinda busy at work. I'll find out this afternoon.
