Looks like i need to break down and get one. Since i have two 95 Silverados, A 99ish vette. And hmgod knows what next. And my red devil obd1 scanner has gone missing.....
Anyway, what am i looking for? Any tutorials on using them? Are the clones any good?

I had one and found it pretty easy to use. I purchased mine from alliexpress or similar site and it came with all sorts of attachments. If you get one like this, get all the cards you need from the manufacturer if possible. I haven't looked in a while but that was the cheapest way to go about it.

I went back and checked. I actually got mine from ebay. The seller is no longer in operation. It looked exactly like this one.

I just grabbed the first one on ebay that looked the part. They are all Chinese copies (or legit versions sold around GM). If you get it from ebay, you at least have some buyer protection beyond just from your bank.
I got one from here: obd2tool.com a couple of months ago but have not played with it much. I did hook i up to my 9-3 and did stuff like activate the wipers and crap just to make sure it works. I have not gotten the software on a computer to get past the security access needed to do any of the cool stuff, it is on the long list of things to I need to do.
