A friend bought an early subaru wrx with the D721 pad style. We are unable to id the pad that is on the car, but it bites really well, and would love to get another set. We've both used Carbotech bobcat, panther plus, and EBC yellows, and it isn't one of those, and definitely bites harder initially. There are no marking or part numbers on the bad to suggest who made them. Any chance some one here knows who makes a brake pad with a gold metallic looking pad material? I know it isn't much to go on, but it's all we got.

What color is the metal backing?

I have a set of generic premium pads from carquest that look like what you are describing if the metal is coated red.

i had a set of duralast gold on my f150 that were far better than the oem pads. they did like a bit of heat in them though, i could feel them heat up and start biting better in the first stop on cold brakes.
