I am curious which is the superior car of the two in B Street. Differences in anything like the DSG vs sst, or if one car or the other burns brakes on torque vectoring, etc. I wrote a long post but decided this is basically the info looking for.
Any other DCT cars in the ~$30k price range used or otherwise of similar power i should look at that are awd or rwd that is competitive in a street class? I am interested in DCTs due to them being far more comfortable for me to drive, old injuries are making manuals kind of rough for me lol.
I have not seen a Golf R MK7 at local autocross and have never driven one at an event so I have no idea how they are.

I can't answer your questions, but to add onto them - I wonder if the DCC on the Golf R is a benefit for autocross, or if the base Golf R with a set of Konis is the better choice?
I am curious about that as well, I believe the GTI has that as an option too.
In reply to kanaric:
I didn't find it on the current VW site, and I found a post referencing the option as having been a mistake for the '15 GTI - although that may have only been non-SE models, it wasn't very clear.
In reply to kanaric:
I stopped by the local VW dealer yesterday & drove a '16 GTI SE w/DCC. They were pretty clueless about the specific option combinations/availability, although they did mention the 2016's are done, and 2017's have just been opened up for ordering, although they're not being built yet. It was actually a pretty cool dealership otherwise, which is something I've rarely encountered.
Anyway, I never took DCC out of "Sport" mode, but it didn't harsh at all. I did take it around a somewhat bumpy on-ramp at the limit, and there was no drama at all. However, I didn't get to try it in any transitional-type maneuvers to really test the rebound vs. compression.
Just checking online now, it does not appear that Koni Sports are available for it, and although I didn't spend too much time searching, all I found from Bilstein were non-adjustable B6's or the full PSS-9 setup. They seem to be competitive in G-Street, so I'm curious what the top drivers are using.

A guy I race with finished 3rd at Nationals last year in GS with a 2015 GTI - the only modifications were RE-71R's and camber bolts. Stock dampers, stock sway bars, stock exhaust.
In reply to drdisque:
Good to know - and even better knowing about the camber bolts, hopefully that would add some life/runs to the tires.
Do you know if that was even with the performance pack? (stock LSD)
In reply to Knurled:
It's VW's take on the rheomagnetic strut, and has 3 different levels of damping.
I don't know about the Volks, but run an Evo X (GSR) in BS.
Not the best choice for the class but I do alright, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate (duh)
Suspension wise you're limited to revalved Bilstien's or going full custom, there are no - and I mean no - off the shelf shocks for the X.
Hell, finding OEM shocks isn't easy.

So I just found this rather technical explanation of the VW DCC system, and I was wrong - it's not rheomagnetic, just electromechanically actuated real-time shock valving. Pretty cool setup from the details explained in that link. I wonder if anyone has cracked VW's coding enough to input your own DCC parameters yet?

That's interesting. I would have expected some options.
