We're looking at buying a really nice 1 owner very low miles '15 TLX with the K24 & DCT.
I've been searching the web & found the procedure for changing the fluid but can't find anything about a replacement synthetic fluid. Redline, Amsoil, Pentosin, Febi, Liqui-Moly all list the Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, BMW specs they meet but not Honda. Or I just get it from Honda.
Has the transmission been replaced?
I would stay away from 15-17 tlx. Tons of trans problems . You can read about it on acurazine and tlx forums. https://www.tlxforums.com/threads/new-transmission.35921/
whenever we service our tsx wagon- we get a tlx loaner. The earlier years hunting trans was terrible.
new ones much improved I hear

I've read some of them but it seemed that it was the '15 TLX V6 which had the 9 speed full auto. Even that article it mentions the 9 speed. There was another topic about the RLX DCT also but it surely is the same trans.
I was actually more concerned with the K24W7 with integrated exhaust & catalytic converter in the head. That is a bad idea long term based on the lifespan of cc's that I've experienced. Plus the W7 has the flow reversed - exhaust in front, intake in the rear because the bores are offset for less piston resistance on the power stroke. Seems like Honda is getting more German, initial efficiency at the cost of long term reliability. Guess we'll look at different models/years.
Looking at different model and years is a smart idea

Bold part is far from accurate. Honda has been using this style catalyst since 2003MY. In my 10 years slinging parts, I sold three times as many transmissions as I did cat's. Granted that is a WAG but probably on the low end. Those style cats just weren't a problem. Chain stretch, oil consumption, vtec solenoid failures were all common. Cat's were never a problem.

Ok thanks for the input/data. We kind of got off course due to cc comment. What about the first year DCT reliability.
Any vehicle/technology first year is not something gif recommend. Hondas track record is pretty poor with that. 2005 MY RL had 5 recalls in the first 4 months. The 2009 tsx had oil consumption and chassis bracing issues.
id find another year or give them more time.
