ok. i have been making the "college try" on re wiring my electrically challenged E30. one day last winter it just died. everything on the car went black and the battery was fine. no fuses were blown. i was told by folks on the e30 forum that it was likely an si board or autolocking circuit gremlin. Since all i want out of this vehicle is a dead on reliable track car, i have removed everything except the key switch from the battery to the motronic to replace it with a more simplified set of circuits. I thought i had gotten all of the chassis wiring back (minus the automatic door locks, trip computer, and active check module) in place with a new more flexible fusebox. unfortunately it turns out that the key switch may have been the offending part and the power sucking gremlins showed up again. in doing so, they fried some of the 20 amp switches, almost all of the light bulbs, and one relay i was using and i am now a little leery of hooking up the motronic and frying it too. (if it isnt fried already from the first attack!) so, i am just about ready to give it over to someone with better tools and more experience to hook up the motronic and make sure the engine wiring is still ok. does anyone know of a good shop for this in or around atlanta?
