I really enjoy watching the Bolster Cup... big engines, small tires, crap brakes & suspension, no safety
now I just gotta figure out how to build a register something like that 
I love Goodwood, 4 wheel drifty goodness, it's also an enabler for me as I have the same driving.
I think Goodwood may be my most favorite racing of all time. Just awesome. Not sure how those tires do in the cold temps though!
Watching the ridonkulius expensive jaguars get tossed around on tiny tires in freezing temps was amazing.
It takes a pair of appendages or a very thick wallet to throw them around that way. I'm guessing both were present...
As someone who races on skinny treaded bias ply tires you'd be surprised just how controllable they are. Also as most of the cars are using 13" - 15" tires they're not anymore expensive then a set of Spec Miata tires for most of the cars. The most expensive of the production car tires are $1200 a set.
The big sports racers, now those things will put a serious dent in your tire budget.
You have to love people who are willing to hang it out in such valuable cars for sure.
