I ran the 225/45 15's roadracing this year. Sticky, light, fast, don't go off when hot, wear like butter. Lots faster (like almost 2 seconds on a 1:30 lap) than the Toyo 888's I ran last year. I've never run Hoosiers, so I can't say how they compare to the purple glue. Autocross not great- they need too much heat to start working.

I was about to purchase the Goodyear Eagle RS tires to compare with the Yokohama AO 32's I was taking off but won another set of Yokos so I'll still be on them but the newer AO 48s. Streetwiseguy, how many track days you get out of the Eagles?

Its track hours, not days. Careful rotation on a VERY abrasive old racetrack, maybe 4-5 hours to cords. Me and my Neon are famously hard on rubber, though. As comparison, I could get maybe 6 hours out of 888's. Did I mention how abrasive Race City is? Gimli is worse.
Rad: That $600 per weekend has gotten me at least 60 bucks worth of trophies. Good investment, I'd say.
Will: I've never seen optional compounds for the tires I've been buying. Might be available now, though.

Hoosier says the same thing. They're designed to be technically DOT legal to meet the rules, but having driven on A6s in the street, in pouring rain, I can say that I absolutely understand why they say doing so is stupid.
Also, check out page 17 of this linked PDF: Goodyear PDF. Two compounds are listed: AC (softer) and RC (harder). Sounds like Autocross and Race Compound to me. FWIW, they're also $20/tire cheaper than A6s.
There was a discussion about these over on SCCAforums. The guy with the bright green Bugeye (Kiesel?) had some inside info?
