Just bought a set of Goodyear All Weather tires to have on our Subaru for the once-every-other-year 3" of snow we get, partially because of the net cost "after rebate" that put them at a similar cost to most any middle of the road All Season's. Now, applying for the rebate, I'm being asked for an installation receipt. I'm not a business, but I own my own tire equipment, so I'll not be paying a shop to put these on.

Anyone else encountered this? My thoughts were to either A.) Make my own invoice. B.) Ask local tire guy for a phony invoice or C.) Type "I put these on myself" on a Word Doc and submit that.

I'd probably make my own. It's true and probably won't trigger an auto reject like "c"

Yeah, C. is my "instinct", but that's because I find the requirement silly, and I know not to trust that instinct. B. isn't something I'm interested in, because it's a lopsided request. If I pay him for the invoice, I'm defeating the beneift of my own tire equipement, and if I don't pay him, then I'm just a mooch asking for a favor he doesn't owe me.

So, pretty sure the answer is A. Just thought if any forum had run into this very niche problem, it might be this one.

A. is the most honest, you traded the normal expense of tire installs for owning your own equipment and your time.

B. is lying and could land the installer in hot water if it was ever discovered that he did it (if you install the tire wrong he could get sued, Goodyear could revoke his partnership with them, etc.)

C. having tried to work with Goodyear in the past, their customer service is terrible.  Last year I tried to buy tires from the website to take advantage of the SCCA member discount only to be told that you can't buy different size tires and you can't buy non-runflats for a run flat car...  also you have to order them installed on the website to get the discount, if you order them for delivery to your house you're not eligible...  again, truely terrible customer service.

(A) seems reasonable.  I mean, if you owned a normal tire shop that's what you'd do, right?

Heck, I've done (A) with an insurance claim before, and they were very cool with it. If insurance will play along, I expect anyone will.
