So, my girlfriend is a real good sport when it comes to cars. We autocross together, sometimes work on cars together, heck she daily drives a car with a rotary... by choice! Point is, she does the car thing pretty well.
Anyway, I saw this 1982 Subaru Brat on CL yesterday and thought to myself, "boy that looks like a neat-o replacement for my '85 Celica".
I ask the girlfriend if she wants to go check it out with me this evening. She wants to go jogging, but I convinced her to come. Show her the pictures of the car. She thinks it's stupid: "what can you tow with that?" (I've been looking at tow rigs recently.)
We drive down south of the city to check it out. It is indeed pretty neat-o, but also the rockers are long gone. I shoot the seller a lower offer, he says he wants to hold out for something a little higher, so we leave.
We stop for Chinese food on the way home to make a date out of it. Here are the fortunes we got in our cookies. I seriously couldn't believe it - girlfriend couldn't either. She was totally convinced I was making it up when I read it to her. Mine is on top:

I'm going to share with you a little bit of advice my dad gave me when I was a young buck just getting ready to go out and make my mark on the world. I always wondered what he meant by that.

I made an offer to the seller that was a few hundred below his asking price. He's going to get back to me in a couple days if he doesn't get another offer. We'll see what happens...
