This info is from the E3 gaming/electronics show today at about 4:40pm EST. I've had mine pre-ordered for about six months now. Lets just hope they keep this release date.

Crash damage is only on "Premium" cars, which make up somewhere around 5% of the total cars in the game. The rest show scuff marks and scratches, but no sheetmetal damage.

One of the video's I've seen shows a Pug 908 on Le Mans. It's going through Arnage, and gets loose, and starts to do SEVERAL tank slappers. Looks like the physics are barely improved over GT4. And be ready for people to bank-shot off walls to run quick times.

Only in a "Private Lobby", though. I work weird hours, and also have to wait my turn on the box, since our boarder actually owns the thing. I love racing with guys like you, racerfink...but with my schedule, that kind of thing only seems to happen twice a month. On Forza 2 online, I could get a full grid in the "Public Lobby" I'd set up (no "painted line" or stability controls, damage to "limited", horsepower cap, race longer than 4 laps, allowed ABS for newbies and automatics for folks using hand controllers) in less than 20 minutes every night that I actually had the chance to load up the game.

IMHO, Forza 3 online is nothing but "Revenge of the Halo Players". All the sniveling little shiny happy people we got trying to pretend they could drive worth a M3 BMW E36 usually left my Forza 2 lobbies on their own, after having to treat the thing like a race, instead of like a videogame.

Still makes me angry that Turn 10's response to the lack of custom public lobbies in FM3 was "..we're trying to bring the gamers and racers closer together.."

As I've said before.."after I've spent the last year and a half keeping the little bastards out?"

I'll consider picking up a PS3 when GT5, you know, actually ships.

Until then, I've got plenty of time to play forza 3...

And, you know, actually autocross.

I (Trevor actually) broke my last PS2 controller about 6 months ago. Have done three autocrosses this year instead of replacing the controllers.

Well, seems like PD have been busy little beavers since last I checked. Now their premium cars total is closer to 20%. But, in every video I've seen lately, there have only been 8 cars total on the track, not the 16 that was touted in the early going. I guess the 3D (which most people seem to hate, btw) took up too much code. Hmmm..., 3D, or 16 cars on track... which would be better for a racing game...

And in this video right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oCNPaVyFK8&feature=player_embedded the cars still bounce off walls, and the AI is still unyielding. What the hell have they been doing for 6 years?

It looks like the Top Gear Test Track and The Stig will be in GT5.

Yes, along with the voice of Sebastian Vettel, for some reason that hasn't been made clear yet. But I don't get the appeal of the TG Test Track. You can't race on it, and as far as testing goes, Nurburgring is SO much better.

And we still havn't seen anything out of online play yet. The two they've come out with since GT4, the online play has been dodgy at best.

While it's sad it's taken this long, I love the PS3 for more than simply Gran Turismo. When looking to buy between teh X box and PS3, the PS3 was the clear winner, especilly the 60gig one with the hardware compatability with PS2 stuff. Simple things like "built in wi-fi" to hook up to my existing home network, no add-ons to buy. Blu-Ray built in (and one of the best Blu-Ray players on the market with excellent hardware and software support), of course the PS2 compatability with all the older PS2 games we already had, and it runs quiet and reliably, unlike X-boxes at the time. And while there are fewer overall titles, there are enough good titles to be fun playing, especially with the free online play that my stepson takes full advantage of with first person shooters and GT4.

He's not taking advantage of online play with GT4, and the 360 has more backwards compatability than the PS3 does.

Have you seen the new 360 that's coming out? Don't forget how much later the PS3 came out than the 360.

And as far as Blu-Ray goes, Sony's already trying to make it obsolete with this 3-D crap.

PS3 hasn't been backwards compatible with PS2 games ever since they went to the slimline. It's why I didn't jump ship from the Xbox when mine RROD'd last month.

Though I'm still bitter that my G25 will NEVER work on the 360.

I bought a 1st gen 60gig ps3 with full backwards compatibility because I never owned a ps2.

So I've been basically catching up on ps2 games I missed. I picked up GT4 for $15.

I have a 120hz 1080p 46" toshiba. I found the option to run GT4 at 1080i in the game menus. O_O

I can see some minor shortcuts taken with SOME of the car models, but overall it looks silky to me. I'm not on PSN, so I haven't gotten any 'previews' of GT5 either.

How so? You think a standard DVD is going to hold the amount of information necessary for a 3D game or movie? Or that people want to try to stream a 30gb HD-3D quality movie over thier broadband?

Blu-Ray isn't going anywhere, anytime in the near future.

having just picked up a g27 i'm gonna be very unhappy with gt5 if the g25/g27 utilization is anywhere near as terrible as it is with prologue. as cheap as the x360 wireless wheel feels compared to the logitech, forza3's implementation is quite good and feels SO much better that i'm toying with the idea of selling my g27 just to buy a 360 and f3 combo...

Hopefully not re-skinning 50 different skylines...

Or adding absolutely useless, pointless crap into the game like the "special" cars that you couldn't use in an actual race.

WTH? I get a Caterham Fireblade and NO! No racing for me?!

I chuckle a little inside everytime someone gets excited about a GT release date. I went through 4 GT's to realize they are NEVER going to meet a release date. I'm shocked they are still in business. This GT5 thing though is something else. They have been talking about it since PS3 came out! What's that like 4 years ago?!

I've been enjoying this for some time now:

Seriously, it is downright silly. I laughed at the people who bought GT5 Prologue years ago because it wasn't a full game and the real deal was due soon...looks like the last laugh is on me, the guy who recently bought a PS3 and STILL hasn't seen the full release of GT5 happen.
