Stampie, that is an epic mane. I am impressed.

I've been slowly watching the ZZ top documentary.  Stampie is almost a lost bandmate or at least roadie.

Please tell us that you have a wind tunnel at home.

Oh I can go to the wind tunnel anytime I want, it's just they want us to be nice and not COMPETE IN MOTORSPORTS for a little while, so no actual testing...

I also have enough digital power on the computers to get the job done, so there's that.

Thanks, I've been working on it for a almost a year now. It really helps in this social distancing thing. Everyone tends to stay away from the crazy looking guy.

Good point.  I think in the documentary, they apparently didn't shave for 3 years after their big world tour.  Then when they met up after the hiatus....  bam beards!

My work desk is still at the office. It is in a perpetual state of natural disaster, covered in notes, drawings, quotes and general detritus.

My home desk is much nicer but not neater, and it's covered with all kinds of distractions. It's probably a good thing I never work from there. I'll try to remember to shoot a picture of it when I get home.

Love reading my social media feeds with all these remote-work rookies going on about "OMG I was doing work and my cat walked across my keyboard this is crazy hahaha it's like work but my cat is here OMG LOL."

Meanwhile I'm over here like "Yep. Wednesday."

On an average day, how many times does your desk get pooped on?

I don't track actual numbers, but I would say bringing the birds into the office to hang out increases the frequency by a good 40%.

OK, had to post a pic on how the Luddites do it in a computer world. Yes, this is my remote setup. Yes, that's my car. No I won't share my chicken strips. And stop asking questions

And if today's any indication, we're pretty much back to full-speed--which, for us, is pretty darn quick. We have a great crew, and several of us usually work remotely in some capacity so this isn't a huge disruption. No matter where we are, our normal routine is a fast-moving mix of e-mail, chat, Dropbox, Monday, etc.

During normal times, Colin sits a few feet away from me--he's in the next office. Even so, we usually talk via chat. It's just easier, especially if we're discussing something on the site.

Even though we're now almost an hour drive apart, the conversation hasn't changed much since the bug-out:

the 55" 4k has been doing great monitor duty. I'd still like a second screen, but this suffices.

DIY treadmill desk, triple 22" monitors, WWII documentary on one, GRM on another, some work chat on the other.  Lab desk, toolbox for electronic tools, 3D printer enclosure, random stuff strewn around.

Our 18 month old likes to explore the drawers and mess with the printer/desk where possible, so I have to keep things picked up and out of reach where possible.  I should finish the doors on the enclosure so I can print without worrying.

Just ordered a laser engraver unit to play with on my spare printer.  Thinking of building a CNC router to build cabinets for the garage because I need to do something to keep busy.

Check out the new single they just dropped on Spotify!  (j/k, though there is way too much attitude packed into those bodies).

I get to work AT home.... meaning, I'm furloughed, so I get to do all the home renovation projects I didn't have time to do before.  Come on, unemployment check.

Maple hardwood floors
Wood burning fireplace install
replace the rear patio roof with translucent PVC
work on fixing the little annoying things with my cars

  • water pump leak and clutch on the Fordzda Branger, along with a deep cleaning because I quit smoking and it smells like an ashtray
  • new seats and upholstery in the Branger
  • body panels on the Impala so maybe I can get more than $1000 when I sell it
  • horn relay on the LeMans so it will pass inspection

This whole thing actually came at a very opportune time.  I have an old DUI (oops, thought I was safe, but I was 0.015% over the limit, and SURPRISE - zero tolerance municipality) and I get to live out my 30-day license suspension while not having to commute.

I'm actually looking forward to this.  I get to focus on me.  Get back into jogging and weight training at home, fix up the house and the cars, bring it on.

The other good news is that the really amazing pizza shop 2 blocks away delivers beer.

Autobooks-Aerobooks is still open.  Floor traffic is down to a crawl but mail order is still going strong. Therefore my exposure to the outside world is a small series of single transactions which makes it easy to wash up afterwards.  So if anyone needs a little reading entertainment (or DVDs for that matter), we'll get your order out to you ASAP.  Tina, the store owner, says we will carry on until someone tells us we're on official lockdown.  Even then, keeping the store closed but coming in for a couple hours and servicing the mail order stuff will continue.

So an ice cream truck just drove by. I don't know if he's a genius or an optimist.

Well, given that it's overcast, 6:30 pm and 50F, he's at least part optimist.
