If anyone is around come say hi. I'm running Time Attack with Gridlife who is at Road America as a support series for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Carrera Cup and Optima are also on sight this weekend! Should be an awesome weekend.
Gridlife paddock is at Gate 6 / Turn 14 and I'm right next to the Arcade
I forgot that was this weekend!
You've got one of the coolest cars in the Gridlife paddock, btw
Enjoy
The NASCAB cars will make a mess when they go boom on the back straight

Wish I was there so bad. But then again I haven't been at any GL this year because I'm dumb.
In reply to bobzilla :
If you wanna tag along to GL LRP or Topeka the camper has room.
Very excited to watch coverage on the YouTube. Man I think I'm more excited to watch you run around RA then to Watch F1 run around Spa.
In reply to BlueInGreen - Jon :
Thanks.
So far it's definitely getting the older crowd's attention.
Nocones: sounds like GL doesn't get to do their camera thing but will be streaming using RA's cameras. Not sure how the quality of video will be but other than that it should be the same as normal. Streaming tomorrow and Saturday they told us.
The Minnesota license plate on your car jumped out of the picture, you're (sort of) local to me. You're a long way from home.

They've been here before 1957 if I'm not mistaken. Plus recently the support classes.
Nope they don't go boom, they are pretty reliable.
In reply to Asphalt_Gundam :
Could you tell me what sort of racing this is? What are the classes? Will my Jaguar XJS V 12 be eligible?
This is what it will look like when finished.
In reply to nocones :
a.) Burned all my time getting surgery and
2.) don't even know if I'm going to be released anytime soon to do fun things.
In reply to stuart in mn :
Actually more local now that I recently took a job in Ham Lake.
RA is still the second closest road course and I used to live less than an hour from here, so in the grand scheme...not that far from home.
In reply to frenchyd :
Gridlife Time Attack is what Asphalt Gundam runs. Your Jag would have a home. May not be competitive but it would have a place to run against the clock.
The W2W is Gridlife Touring Cup. It's a power to weight ratio formula series. It's likely your Jag would be able to be setup to run but depending on how spicy it is it may need to be detuned. It is absolutely real racing but On track behavior is more Historics then Spec Miata. Big emphasis on clean racing, clean moves, and working together to ensure everyone finished in one piece. It is full W2W though so you would need a current spec cage, fuel cell, fire system, etc.
Those are not all necessarily required for GL Time Attack.
Quite a few of us run in different levels of the Gridlife Time Attack. Everything from a completely stock Kia Rio, to a full tube framed prototype(ish) Subaru 360 has a home.
That really sounds interesting. ( Gridlife touring cup).
By spicy? Is that like Drag racing where you want to go as fast as possible without breaking out? So there is a lot of sandbagging?
Well I'm thinking I can be around 400 hp and 3000 pounds pretty easily. Possibly 500 hp and 2700 pounds. It would take a major push to get to 600 hp. Without a pair of turbo chargers.
Any idea of who ( what kinda cars). I'll be racing with?
In reply to frenchyd :
GLTC is 12.5lbs per HP with +/- modifiers of aero and tire sizes based on weight
How is the horsepower measured? Advertised , Gross, Net, SAE, DIN ?
Do you run a chassis Dyno before Qualifying?
@frenchy: We were at the Brian Redman Int'l Challenge at Road America two weeks ago. It's one of the bigger vintage weekends in the US. It's a great track and was full of amazing old race cars. I suspect you could find a class there. https://www.roadamerica.com/weathertech-international-challenge-brian-redman I got an education on old Porches from a guy at John James Racing, talked to Peter Cunningham for a bit, and got a lecture from a gent that rebuilt a Ford GT aluminum tub prototype. Cool people with time to talk to spectators.
I have this weeks race on my calendar but it doesn't look like I'll make it up there. Suggest you bring earplugs - the NASCAR cars were damned loud.

Cup Series ran Road America in 1956, 2021, and 2022. The second tier Xfinity Series has run Road America every year since 2010.

I love the Vintage races there. Not just the Brian Redman event. Although that is the biggest and best supported.
I think I ran every Brian Redman race And the Joe Marchetti predecessor. During those events you would see more Ferrari's in one spot than anyplace on earth. "Oh that's the 3rd GTB4 here, it's race history is ••••••••". I think the most GTO's I've ever seen in one spot. Along with really fabulous rare 50's cars like the Testa Rossa. Brand new Ferrari's warranted nothing more than a causal glance.

Chassis Dyno
Wow! A portable chassis Dyno! How long does it take to tie a car down, run it, and get ready for the next one? 10-15 minutes?
Finally watched the GLTC race 1. Sad that they didn't have their own cameras like normal but still a great race.
Have you seen an orange ford mustang that says operational speed supply on it?
