GRM - by gut feel, or better, how do the springs and shocks you put on the BMW wagon compare to the H&R sport springs and Bilstein shocks? I have the latter combination on an '01 330i, and I get hobby horse motion. I wonder if there needs to be a different spring rate in front or rear. Normally the dampening feels sufficient, but in the hobby horse mode, I wonder if I could use some more rebound dampening. My car is a daily driver with 1-2 track events per year. Thanks! And thanks for letting me tryi the online version of your mag!

Is it possible you ordered the kit for a sedan and installed it on your wagon? The wagon is about 250lbs heavier and all of it in the rear. They need a little more spring and different damping to match.

How many miles on those shocks? One of them may be blown or worn.

No hobby horsing here and based upon my experiences with that HR/Bilstein combo, I'd say this is better--but not inexpensive--route. I like the comfort this set up has over expansion joints, ripply pavement.

About the only downside now is the noise/tramlining from the Advan Neovas--they're more track oriented than this car needs on a daily basis.

All the parts were new and correct part nos for the car. Per, are you springs softer or stiffer than H&Rs?

The valving on the Bilstein sport shocks was pretty rough last time I tried them on a BMW. Also, the rear Bilstein sports on my e36 would blow out every winter. same thing on my VW actually but that was in the 80s.

The GC/Koni FSD combo is stiffer in spring rate, but the FSDs ride better--as their high speed rebound is reduced (high shock shaft speed)

Bilstein HDs have a reputation for being harsh on BMWs (e36 and e46). They work well in many other applications, but for some reason they don't seem to work well in BMWs. Since the Sports are essentially shorter HDs, I'd imagine they'd have the same characteristics.
