Another car that should have been built
I think they should put this body on a Boxster chasie.
um, they did. its called a Cayman and it looks much better:
That 914 would look so much better without those horrible nipples on the front end. Give it a more modern front end treatment and it would compliment that rear end that was added.
I saw that picture in the hot links thread... I don't hate it, but somehow it doesn't do it for me. Which is weird, because my main complaint about the 914 is the back window profile.

I agree. At that point, why not add a slant nose front or 911 fenders? He's kept the worst part of a 914.

When they are uncomfortably unnecessary like the ones on the batsuit from Batman & Robin.
Looks pretty good IMO, although the windshield is definitely a few inches too tall and maybe a bit too vertical.
I don't get the "nipples" thing, are we talking about the lights or the hood pins or what?

weird.. I actually liked the running lights/turnsignals of the 914. It was the rear window/b-pillar design I hated.

The remaining bumps on the top of the fenders for the original turn signals, obviously left on the fiberglass units they're running.
I like regular 914's better than that modified one. In fact, the modified one looks a little strange to me. If they would've changed the front, then it wouldn't be distinguishable as a 914.

We are going to have to disagree on this one I think the Cayman is just another Porsche that ALMOST was a great looking car. I am so done with the Porsche headlights on the 911 and the Cayman and the Boxster. I REALLY liked the 914 above just because of the "hidden" headlights. Yes I like pop up headlights!!!!! Funny you all mentioned the "nipples" I actually really like that on the fount end of that car. I was even daydreaming that you could put LED headlights in them from a modern accura or something running vertically. Like I said I would really love to take a Boxster and graft that body on it. It would solve the steep high windscreen some one commented on as well. I always really liked the 914 front end and was always disappointed with the back half. With the quazi 911 rear end I think it looks SO much better.

Interesting idea... I gave it a try.
Calling Mr. Smith at factory Five.
When the 818 plays out he can have another contest with the Boxster as the downer car.

That looks much better now. Those things were annoying without being there for a specific reason other than screwing up the aerodynamics they obviously were trying to help with that roof.

I, um...
Yes. This should have happened.
Why have I not built this yet?
