2018 Camaro SS 1LE vs 2018 Mustang GT PP2
Can we see this happen next year?
What are the chances that after we do that test we'll have folks going into conniptions saying "You've sold out.....those are $75K cars! This isn't GRM anymore! "
But yeah.....I totally volunteer for that duty!
Well.........neither are $75k!
It looks like real world you can get the SS 1LE for around $42k with the Performance Data Recorder.
A few guys on the forums have ordered the Performance Pack 2 Mustang GT, if you start with a base and don't add any other options it looks like dealers are selling them around $43-45k.
Both are LOTS of car for the money.
The new Mustang GT is rated at 460hp, Lund on an E85 tune has them up near 470 rwhp.
That's GT350 type numbers with a flat tq curve and pull up to the 7500rpm redline. The Gen III Coyote is a seriously awesome engine.
In reply to Joe Gearin :
I’d rather see a mustang economist with track pack vs v6 or turbo 4 Camaro with same.

They don't get all the track goodies the V8 models do.
IE, the 1LE models on the lesser Camaro doesn't have all the stuff the SS 1LE models do. Seems strange to test the models that don't have all the stuff.
^ Or both sets in two categories. Mustang Ecoboost track pack vs. Camaro V6 1LE (never mind that it's faster than a GT PP1 on a track) or I4 with the GMPP lowering/handling kit. I suspect the result with be a double Camaro win. Throw a Miata into the lower category comparison and a M2 or base Cayman into the faster category to keep it interesting.
I think the tires on the GT PP2 will help equalize the performance, it's on a square set of 305 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s vs the Goodyears on the SS 1LE.
Fair point, but on max performance street tires the V6 1LE is faster than the GT, so I suspect the GT PP2 simply closes some of the gap to the SS 1LE.

$42,000 too rich for GRM blood. They want that performance for $25k

Nope. We actually want that performance for $10k in a slightly used 5-10 year old vehicle... ;)
Yeah, well the owners established years ago the forum users aren't really representative of the average subscriber.
