Sold a broken car.
Got a Baby!
Changed nearly everything in my life but bought a better and unbroken version of the identical car.

Said another way, everything got better.

I bought a one owner Miata, did a bunch of work on it, drove it fast in the snow at Lime Rock and then it became my bad weather beater for most of the year.

Changed my first Miata timing belt (but not my first timing belt).

Drove a brand new Camry for a week while the dealer put a brand new frame under my truck.

I had a conversation with Skip Barber, while standing under a real 1973 911 Carrera RS that was on a lift.

Saw Sterling Moss and Sam Posey at Lime Rock.

Got up close to see and photograph hundreds of amazing cars including, Porsches, Cunninghams, Bugattis, Ferraris, Singer, Miuras, Siatas, Maseratis, Lotuses, Bentleys, Marches, Lolas, Chevrons, Aston Martins, Alpines, Lancias, Turners, Jaguars, Morgans and many, many more. Note that all but the Singer were pluralized.

Had knee surgery.

Sold the Miata.

Sold my Sportster.

Bought my first BMW. Learned all about Guibos and DISAs.

Reexamined the concept of project cars.

Started thinking about buying a sports car with two pedals.

Resisted the urge to turn a really, really nice car into an ice racer.

Bought some real tool boxes and reorganized the garage.

Took a few cool, spur of the moment road trips.

  • Won the STPR and Central NY Region Divisional rallycrosses in Mod RWD
  • Beat over 50 cars at an autocross in the e30 rallycross car on cycled-out 195 Star Specs
  • Started caging the e30 and prepping it for stage rally (first one Feb 20th!)...added 100 pages to my build thread (or so).
  • Bought a new welder (Hobart 140) and argon tank
  • Did some modifications to the trailer to make it work and look better
  • Didn't buy or sell any vehicles or trailers.

Finally fixed the focus to near-perfection, drove the focus on many canyon roads, bought a Miata, broke the Focus next day.

Lived in and loved LA, lived near San Bernardino, and agreed to relocate to NJ.

Worked a lot, ate a lot. Stayed at the worst (laughably) motel I have ever been in. Had to pay a deposit on a TV remote.

Drank a lot of good Scotch.

It was a good year.

Wow, I could have some fun with this one. Easiest way is to go through my pictures from last year. Let me do this later when I have some more time. On the way to Mecum auction this a.m.
