Ya, I know you didn't get them down there. Basically they are Cobalt SS Sedan.
Found one that is available:
- 2.4L version of Ecotec (171 Hp)
- 5 spd manual
- 17" alloys
- Red with grey interior (wish it was black interior)
- 4 dr. Sedan
- Current owner doesn't like driving a 5spd, so it might go relatively cheap.
- 140k kms (85 k miles)
I have been looking at Golf's, Jetta's, Focus, Mazda 3, etc. and this pops up.
On-line feedback is that the steering is heavy and has little feel but no real reliability issues. This would replace my now gone WRX and I am looking to get 5 years out of it.
This will have the 'middle of the road' suspension. Not the full on SS super/turbo with aluminuin control arms, but a step up from the base, should have rear disc's instead of drums. Steering is a bit heavy, GM's first all electric effort wasn't the best. The shifter is at an odd angle and short, I always ground 4th gear when shifting quick. Longer shifter bent at the right angle would help. Slow, lazy clutch but I've heard getting rid of the clutch delay valve helps. 2.4 asks for premium fuel and should last a long time. The Pontiac has nicer trim over the Chevy version. Test drive to make sure you're comfy.
You could always SS-itize it.

I'm pretty sure the only thing worse than a Cobalt interior is the inside of a 30 year old, unkempt refrigerator.
so it's what we called a G4 GT here in the states?
G5.
Reliable cars that handle great and make decent power. I wasn't expecting it, but I was really impressed by the 2.4. The front ends can be a little rattly, but it's a small price to pay for an otherwise cheap reliable, and entertaining car. I have zero problems with the Cobalt interior, and if it has the Pioneer sound system, it's far greater than the sum of it's parts. For a front drive car of it's type, I think the steering feel is fine.
No interest? I'm surprised. Let us know what you think of it if you test drive it. I commented to my wife a few weeks ago, our's is 8 years old, and seems like a 3 year old car. We normally replace them at 10 years, but I can see this one hanging around longer than that.

It's down east of Ottawa and I am up in North Bay, so it's about a 4 hour trip for me. What sucks is that I just got back from Ottawa checking out 4 cars on Friday and this one popped up on Sunday!
I am heading to Belleville on a business trip, so I am thinking of trying to run up there, but it's still about a 2 1/2 hour trip from Belleville.
I am not sure how much interest the owner is getting in the listing.
I feel your pain. All the good bikes are in Ottawa, and it's 5 hours for me.
