noisycricket-Sorry about the mistype on the RX7, I meant to say that but it was all quick. Oh yeah, I would have loved the F40 even more then I do now if they did, but the 308 is perfectly fine! I am surprised by the responses, it sounds like you enjoy them. And yes, they have videos and articles about a modern rally car vs. a Group B and the times were very close, the Group B was faster, brutally fast but was fighting for traction but if it had the newer tires and maybe a slight change to the suspension it might be better than the originals! Money certainly played a role in it for sure, but that's when they were focused on rally and not sports car racing or F1 so much.

For your first model, no not necessarily, I mean I've been building models since I was 10 and I'm 17 now, so I still am learning but your first one, depends on your natural skill and how you build it, it might turn out really good, it might not be your best but I love models, and most kids my age don't, so it's a diffeent step for me in life. I would build it and proudly show it, and get intop the hobby and maybe join a club becuase it is definetly fun and you might meet people that are into cars the same as you. I'm into sports cars, vintage sports cars and the racing and rally and such and there are a few guys that get along with me just fine. I certainly want to see that 037!

where do you live, I live in Dayton Ohio so I go to thehobbyshoponline.com that is also where I do my R/C racing too.

California... I need to get my RC working again :( I think the speed controller is broken, it keeps killing motors. The stock motor suddenly dropped to half speed. The replacement lasted a while then did the same. It actually blew up a battery I guess from discharging it too fast too...

Edit: that hobby shop has only 1 rally model, and no lancias :(

Hasegawa makes a 1/24 scale 1984 Lancia Martini 037 plastic model kit (link goes to a review of the kit). So far, I can only find it on evilBay. Do you have any hobby shops near where you live? Look in the local yellow pages. They should be able to order models for you as long as they sell model car kits in the first place. Then you can pick the owner's brain for tips on building the kit.

yeah, I may just have to do that. We do have a pretty good one near by that I have done some RC stuff through, but I generally find the internet to be easier and cheaper....

(yeah yeah, support your local hobby shop, blah blah... I am broke and need a new car battery, give me money and i will be more then willing)

Aside from eBay, I've found that you don't typically find rare model kits on the Internet. Hobby shops, model clubs, and model expos turn up a lot of rare goodies.

I find them on hobbylink japan, nut others have them other than Evilbay, local hobbyshops usually have some hard to find ones though.

Oh man, don't get me started, I am huge into RC's....mainly now the offroad trail trucks and touring cars but love the stadium trucks and truggys

If anyone is interested, I have all of the season reviews from the 80's WRC era featuring group B cars. Probably 8 hours of group B goodness...

From an older ex-modeler, try to pick a model with a simple color/paint scheme. The hardest part is applying the decals, those wonderful looking Martini stripes are a bitch to get right. Build that model if you want, but I'd go for a simple solid color such as red. That way you can actually finish it looking good!!

hahah, I can vouch for that! I am doing the KEI Office Silvia, holy crap decal hell. My buddy just did the Monte Carlo S4 and he actually got Martini decals from Studio27 because the kit colors were wrong but he said the same exact thing!
