Yup. A Yugo. Actually two Yugos, a 87 pictured and a 86. The 87 is in better shape then it looks I promise. And it has wheels (and a set of 14" from Alfas). I am getting it the first weekend in December and then the fun begins. Goals, one have it ready for the beginning of autocross season. Two bring it to the Challenge.

Will the stock gearbox in the Yugo hold up to a modified 1500? Also the '86 will be for sale at some point in the near future.

Could be a Colt.

Given the fact that a Yugo is in the foreground, it's probably a Pinto.

The 4spd is stronger than the 5spd behind a 1500.

So the stock one should hold ~100hp?

They still make these in Russia. Kind of cool little cars, actually.

I remember car & driver or road & track- or mayby both, summing up thier review by saying, "dont buy this car, it's dangerious. Spend the same money on a used Honda". You got them for free I trust.

Very cool. I'd love one but they are quite rare here.

You listen to Car & Driver? It is just a Fiat.

I thought C&D only suggested that everyone buy a 3-series BMW, even if you're looking or an SUV, minivan, or roadster....

if you want to autocross it call up Addco and get a rear swaybar. There's a little lead time on getting one but its one of the best possible things you can do for that suspension after lowering it and getting fresh shocks/struts.

I would like to go with Konis. Anyone know of any that can be adapted to fit? And has anyone converted to coilovers on the rear?

Sorry I am not getting that crazy with it. I have a Spitfire to build and a much more radical challenge car I am helping on.

But if someone wants one to go that crazy with I have one I will sell cheap.

I think when those mags said "it's dangerous", this is what they were talking about.

Very cool. I'm guessing those blocks of wood the thing is sitting on were OEM pieces, yes?
