Guessing Games: Why Would An MR-S Transmission "Lock Up" After Fluid Change??

My brother is going to look at an MR-S for sale. It has 130k on it, and looks very nice in the pictures. The story is that the transmission (5-speed) "locked up" after the transmission oil was changed. The car has since been sitting for a year and "needs to be towed."

Any of you guys have a clue what's going on here?

Is it one of those halfwit Toyota boxes that has two drain plugs, but only one fill plug...that you can see? The other is behind a cross member, nearly impossible to access, and fills the differential.
